One thing that struck me about last season before it even kicked off was how early we were getting transfer business done compared to previous years. That we're carrying on in that same vein can only be a good thing.

Cracking stuff, this is my favourite part: Michael Doyle as the second-most experienced Irish player in league history only behind Denis Irwin is a great one too.

My biggest fear with Sterling is that he's amazing for Man City, but we'll never see that version of him for England. He was snatching at things in the last game as if he's trying too hard to get people back onside again.

I did it at school and kept it up but it's been more a casual thing so haven't been able to put much into it. Got it all planned for a few years time though. Walking football, photography, disapproving of the youth of the day. Can't wait!

I think a lot of off-field stuff goes away with most players as they grow up, but yeah I'd definitely like to see the diving knocked right on the head ASAP. Him and Dele Alli in particular, less of this kind of thing boys.

On the other hand, his drive and work ethic got him to the best team in the country and kept him in the team so there's a lot about Sterling that kids could do well to look up to, despite whatever flaws he may have. Certainly rather him than the feckless idiots on any number of reality shows...
