Can somebody explain why the referee runs around the players before a corner telling them not to foul each other? If they foul - blow for it - then they'll stop. The ref doesn't run round the players telling them not to take a foul throw, or not kick each other. If he won't blow for a penalty...

Nice to see Messi smiling at the little lad going out onto the pitch with him, and not ignoring him (will mean a lot to the lad). Hope this is a decent game and not continuously interrupted by hacked down players - no diving either (don't want much do I?!)

Agree - it's the same as the full back constantly hacking down the winger. If the ref is only ever going to give a free kick, he'll keep doing it. The Saudis were kicking Cavani all over the place earlier - and in the middle of the park players seem to be scythed down as they are breaking away...

I think Iran should sit deeper and change formation from 8-2-0 to 9-1-0. Too adventurous by far.

Starting to annoy me now. Players hacking each other, referee awarding free kick but no booking - so players continuing to do it. Happened in Uruguay game (mainly Saudis) and Iran players doing the same. Referees need to get a grip, as it is starting to spoil it for me.

Biamou is improving and will win the ball in the air - we have seen this. I'd sooner go with him, his enthusiasm and energy versus a Kevin Kyle type on a downward spiral in their career. I think MR will get this side of it right.

Watching Uruguay match - very poor. One thing striking me is that the referee is letting the players kick seven bells out of each other (surprisingly the Saudis mainly at fault) but the ref is doing absolutely nothing about it. Not good for football.

Really good - one less contract to have to resolve before the end of next season - as others have said, became a mainstay towards the end of the season. We have a really strong hand at centre backs, with the full back positions also tightening up - great news!

That's the problem - someone gets a big win, then bets a chunk of it on an odds on as they think it's an easy way of topping it up - then sooner or later that goes t*ts up and they start chasing the bit they've lost (can you tell I've been there?!)

When you look at the staked versus paid out you can see why bookies make a profit - even with all of us 'experts' on here, betting on our favourite sport (mainly), still only one winner in the long run !
