Which ties in to the whole issue. I tried to get a mortgage on the place I've just purchased that ran to 67, retirement age, couldn't get one as £550 a month was apparently unaffordable. So now I have a mortgage that runs into my seventies and there's no way I'll be able to retire while I've...

Depends what type of credit you want. If you're after credit cards with high interest rates and credit limits so high you'll massively struggle to make the repayments then that's no problem. If you want a mortgage for a house that would be a third or more cheaper than your rent it is far from easy.

    New Stadium Announcement!!!!!!

For many year I lived about 800 metres from Fratton Park. It was a complete non issue, you could hear an occasional cheer if you were sat in your garden on a matchday and there was a 15 - 30 minute window before and after matches where traffic was heavy. Think a lot of people massively over...

    New Stadium Announcement!!!!!!

If we are actually building a stadium then by the time these new homes are ready to be sold there will be some sign of a stadium. Be incredibly stupid to buy a house next to a stadium development and then moan that there's a stadium! Not that it wouldn't stop them but surely would be taken into...

I've bought this up with him before. He says they had to take a decision if they wanted to maintain their current lifestyle and decided they did so it meant my Mum for a few months getting a part time job working a couple of days a week. Suspect if someone struggling today suggested that as...

    Weight and working out

I've struggled a lot trying to get my weight down since it ballooned over 10 years ago thanks to some medical issues. When it said the side effect of medication was weight gain I thought it meant a few pounds, it didn't! Working with my doctor I've tried all sorts of diets and exercise and all...

    New Stadium Announcement!!!!!!

Plans for new homes close to where any ground is likely to be approved by CCC despite Blundells objections. https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/coventry-news/new-aspirational-homes-coventry-approved-18806927 Does there come a point where the locals grow tired of objecting to everything...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Across the whole of England positive tests have risen 27% in a week, despite the number of tests dropping. Hospital admission and patients on ventilators doesn't seem to be going up though which I guess is good news. No idea if that is the virus becoming 'weaker', its younger people getting...

    Coronavirus Thread (Off Topic, Politics)

Not a bad thing but why does everything need a campaign and a last minute u-turn. A lot of unnecessary stress for people who are struggling at the moment and thought the eviction process would start up next week. The advise for landlords seems to be the same as that for homeowners. Speak to...

Another u-turn incoming. Having insisted the eviction ban wouldn't be extended past this weekend guess what. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-53851945

    This season's Shirt Sponsor

Be interested to know how much the university are paying compared to the amount they've received from betting companies in the last few years before applauding them. The cynic in me thinks they've changed sponsor and then decided to make out it was down to fan response for some cheap PR.

You kind of proving the point you've been arguing against there. I didn't buy my first car that cost more than a grand until the age of 36 as after rent I simply couldn't afford it. 10 years later I'm still in the same car as I can't afford to replace it. My Dad has never been without a newish...

It's a bit of an odd complaint as he's saying he has a relative who had a gambling additiction and wants to be able to wear the shirt when he goes to their house. Why not wear a different shirt on those days?

    Nationalism

My Dad decided recently I should know all about his finances in case he drops dead or loses his marbles - a cheerful day! He left school at 16 and went to work, staying in the same role his entire life. I went to uni to study Computer Science, for which I still owe thousands, and have held...

You make it sound like all asylum seekers are heading to the UK when the reality is its a very small percentage.

    George Floyd

Had a quick look and from what I can make out in the UK asylum seekers get £37.75 a week, accommodation and access to the NHS. The accommodation seems to generally be of a pretty low standard. If they're successful and become a refugee I can't find anything to suggest they get more than anyone...
