We could have cashed in on Vik in January, rumour is that we had an offer. I don't know if anyone has any details on that but we chose to take a gamble and keep him until the season ended and it very nearly paid off. On that basis I think we shouldn't get too upset if he goes for a bit below...

If the report is true, being happy with an offer, and accepting it are two different things. Vik will hopefully want to wait a few days to see what, if anything, else is on offer. I don't really believe what the reports say regarding it being a done deal as far as Vik is concerned.

I wouldn't risk a bet on it, but I think King isn't stupid. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one day very soon we just hear Vik is having a medical and that's the first concrete thing we hear.

If I understand the situation correctly, the only offer on the table currently is 15M euros (£12.7M) as far as we can tell. Sporting keep saying they are prepared to up their offer to E20M but haven't done so yet I don't believe. There is absolutely no way we should accept their opening offer.

And besides, the club's stance on player valuations / transfers is not just about this one player

This is always the problem when discussing player's salaries. I have no idea what any of them earn, and I doubt anyone on here does either, unless they are directly connected to the player or the club. As I said, the nearest we can get to it is by taking an average of what is shown on the net...

No, probably not . These salary webpages are notoriously inaccurate, but a look at 3 sites suggests Gus is on between 5.2K and 6.5K pw, with the top earners on about 10K.
