Match Thread Derby County - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 11th Mar

They're struggling with a lot of injuries at the minute. Salvesen, Osborn, Nyambe and Roofe were all ruled out over the course of this week. Had a glance at their forum and it looks like a few more were hobbling after their win at Blackburn. They're not confident the squad has the energy or...

Some favourable fixtures there. Portsmouth are poor away from home, Hull abysmal at home. Middlesbrough are on a downward trajectory. Luton's, Plymouth's and Derby's seasons speak for themselves. I'd be very surprised if weren't able to grind out at least 10 points out of those. Need to...

    Championship thread 24/25!

Norwich have yielded average results for some time. With Sainz not scoring since November they're now pretty much solely reliant on Sargent for goals which is problematic over the course of a block of games.

    Ellis simms

He's an excellent player at this level but his form has dropped off a cliff. I think that's it really. And due to Sainz' lack of form they're now heavily reliant on just Sargent for goals, which just isn't sustainable.

I think they have a really lopsided squad. Some very good players in there and then some absolutely bang average. Sainz has also been poor for some time. He hasn't scored since November. Which wouldn't have helped them.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

We quite simply won't get that same opportunity against the likes of Burnley, Sheff U or Sunderland.

He was fine today but I wouldn't call him excellent whatsoever. He let the ball run in behind him for their first chance which Dovin saved and he should've been quicker to track back better for their second.

Yeah fair point. He probably should've stayed on his feet for the first however collectively it was a complete shitshow from the backline. I don't really blame Kitching solely for that, Gallagher was completely unmarked. Their second goal was a really poor goal to concede. Great delivery though.

I suspect Haji would've replaced EMC if he'd gone off 10/15 mins later.

Like they did with Swansea they have the capability to seriously punish teams. But they also draw far too many games. Out of the past 8 they've only lost once, but 4 of those have been draws.

Yeah granted certainly have the squad to turn it around and go on a run but based on recent showings I'd be surprised. They'll have to get at least 20 points from the next 10 to be within a shot of reaching the POs. Big ask given who they've got coming up.

Not sure Norwich are that much of a threat tbh. Their form has been pretty average over the past 6-10 games and their run in isn't great.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

Yep, you physically can't do that against the better sides in the division. Stoke and Oxford have really struggled in front of goal recently yet we've shipped two goals a piece against both. The run we're on is brilliant and I don't want to take anything away from it but we 100% need to cut out...

Thought Kitching was an absolute warrior today. Won the physical battle time and again and made some really important clearances.

It didn't sound like either injuries were overly severe to me.

They've got a good squad but they've been terrible for too long to warrant that level of a turnaround. It's only really Bristol and West Brom that pose any kind of threat to us. Millwall have an outside chance as well if their form continues. Norwich and Watford too inconsistent, as...

The same Middlesbrough who have lost 7 out of the last 10?

Yep. All being well he should be back after the international break.

    Rudoni injury

Certainly better than some of the diagnoses shared on here by the self-proclaimed specialists. At one point I was starting to think he might well lose his whole arm.

Best 11 since return to the championship

He was frustrating at times. His ability on the ball was poor and his heading from memory was borderline comical as the ball would often go in every direction other than the one intended. Overall he was solid though. Fair play to him he's had a decent career since moving away from Brighton...
