Key players in Coventry City saga backing petition calling for parliamentary inquiry

Sort of, except that it's one side challenging the other with respect to a single point of law. The judge isn't going to ask questions about how SISU have run the club, for example. An independent investigation would have a much broader scope. It would presumably try to draw out the situation...

    ACL out protest

I hear what you're saying, but the question was "So - what exactly would we demand from the council, what would our protest ask for?". Apologies, but I don't think you've quite answered the question. I think we can all guess that there have been local businesses hurt by all this - but it...

    ACL out protest

The thing is, there's a very clear and obvious thing to protest about with regard to the owners. The simple fact is that they could bring the team back to the Ricoh and still do all the things that they seem to want to do (negotiate to purchase freehold or bits of ACL, or even build a new...

    ACL out protest

Absolutely. I know this phrase is often used as a wind-up, and I don't intend it as that, but I am genuinely struggling to see what the complaint is here. CCFC don't play at the Ricoh any more. I wish they did, but they don't. ACL are a business, and need to bring money in. I don't think...

So stadium location will not be announced soon?

Indeed. In other news I hear they've taken the word 'gullible' out of the OED. Look at all of the available evidence, RFC. This isn't a project that's slipping, this is a project that hasn't even started. They'll be no dotting of i's or crossing of t's until there's an end to the j's and r's...

    Ricoh Arena Has New Tennants!!

Blimey £20k - do you think they could turn me into at least a League 1 striker? It's a lot of money for me to find, and I'm knocking on a bit, but I don't need to improve much 'cos I hear that Wolves will buy any old tat. ;)

    Delfouneso signs on loan!

What, you mean really fast and scores loads of goals? That wouldn't be an absolute disaster. ;)

    Ricoh Arena Has New Tennants!!

Maybe they're still hopeful that the club will see sense, and this is just one of a few things we'll see along these lines (like the U21 game). It looks to me as though they're just tickling things along at the moment, with regard to the pitch usage side, but at some point I'd guess they'll...

    Ricoh Arena Has New Tennants!!

CCFC never did build the thing, there's the problem. But if they had, they'd had have to have found a lot more than £1.2m a year to finance it. (Edit: There's a lot of "have's" and "hads" in that last sentence, but I think you get the idea) :)

    Ricoh Arena Has New Tennants!!

I'm sorry, remind me, how much money are we as taxpayers putting in ACL at the moment? And tell me again how much money Coventry City Council made from the CCFC "cash cow"? (... tumbleweed) Once again that you're pretty quick to spout off this rubbish, but very slow to answer questions that...

    Ricoh Arena Has New Tennants!!

Unusually incoherent response, even by your normal standards. Too much coffee, perhaps? And there's that bullshit "cash cow" phrase again. Remind me again how much profit the council made from the club. I'll give you a clue, it's a million times the total dividends that ACL paid its...

    Jon Stead

Actually, I always thought Stead was a reasonably tidy player, and I think he'd do well at this level. Quite intelligent, decent touch, reasonable finisher. There's probably more than one reason why he doesn't want to come here - again despite my dislike for SISU this isn't perhaps one to lay...

    Transfer News On The Way

Ah, gentlemens' rules only work for gentlemen. This is football. He'll play against us, no doubt. On the upside, given half a chance Murphy will be able to drown the bast*rd in that puddle on the penalty spot. ;)

    The Ricoh is available instead

I don't remember the brochures, but I did go to a forum where they had a live, working scale model of Arena 2000, complete with sliding pitches and roof. Strachan, ham-fisted dolt that he was*, broke it during the demo (or had broken it earlier). But it was still very impressive. * Actually...

    The Ricoh is available instead

I've got say, I'm seriously impressed with your memory! However, that one was at HR rather than the Ricoh. Bloody HR, how crap was that place. ;) On the upside though, did you check out the rest of the news for that day. Lee Mills signed. Turned our season right around that did. :)

    The Ricoh is available instead

Can't use the weather as an excuse for having an already poor pitch battered by two teams either. I don't remember the winters at the Ricoh always being dry and sunny, and yet somehow we always managed to fulfil our fixtures.

    The Ricoh is available instead

If the pitch is that rough already, then it's going to be knackered by the end of Feb with two teams playing on it. That certainly isn't going to help our style of football, and it probably doesn't help in terms of injuries either. I doubt this was given any real consideration by our owners...

    Lester playing at the Ricoh

Spot on. Are we really so petty that helping out another team for a one-off U21 game becomes a big issue. If we were using the pitch, it's another matter, but this doesn't harm the club in any way. Leicester aren't even in our division! The only thing that would bother me is if the Ricoh...

    MichaelCCFC

Come on then. What else should the council do? Before responding, consider these facts: ACL is not controlled by the council. So they can't just liquidate ACL. I believe that the Higgs Trust could also veto the sale of the Council's 50% of ACL shares and vice versa. The freehold contains...

    Apparently he's going up north...

And if they are absolutely true to form, the player will get the blame. Actually, that's a bit of a cheap shot in truth. In this case, the player perhaps does share some of the blame - but then he's only doing what he's always done, why would we be surprised....
