I think a number of people were more than puzzled by the Cardiff selection.......

The choice of Baka makes sense. The job is to chase and harry for 90 minutes. Hamer, less so. But is a 'park the bus' team though, which is what is needed. I predict 75 minutes of frantic back to wall defending and then two late Norwich goals

Not today we don't. We just need a keeper who can hump it miles to the other end of the pitch, and then we make it hard for them to get back to our end. Against Bournemouth (just to pick a comparable example), when we worked it out from the back, we rarely got past half way before losing...

If Cov are like other clubs all players and staff are tested weekly. A friend who is a director of one of the smaller League 1 clubs tells me each test costs £200. They would test before signing I assume.

I am certain that at the start of the season this one was marked down as a defeat, and it almost certainly still will be. But there are some things I'd like to see. 3-5-2 formation Sheaf, Kelly and Hamer sitting in front a back three and then park the bus for 90 minutes. In front of them...

Can we trust a goalie named Lee, that is the question. It will be very hard for some.

That was my thought. I'd like Hamer-Kelly-Sheaf as the central midfield

It was 2-0. Machin got the other. Man Utd were shagged out after a long trip back from Poland, but who cares

    Maurice Setters R.I.P

He kept us in the first tier almost single handed that first season. We owe him a huge debt. George Curtis had a serious injury in the second game of the season and the replacement brought in by Jimmy Hill, Tony Knapp was well past his best (if he ever had one). Noel Cantwell brought in Setters...

2-2 - our wobbly defence is compensated for by a couple of good goals innitiated by Giles.

    New Stadium Announcement!!!!!!

I'm with Covboy and Monkey. There was nothing to be lost by saying nothing, least of all now when getting to Brum is not an issue because it doesn't matter where we play, nobody is going. If anything the closure of grounds makes it easier for SISU in the short term - takes the pressure off. I...

    Match Thread Nottingham Forest

Disregard Forest's position. They have good players and now have a decent manager. They must fancy a change in their fortunes against a newly promoted club like us. This is like the Bristol game, we must be able to show we can go toe to toe with a good club away from home. It's a bit of a free...

    Hilsner

Either way they cost pennies compared to Hamer, so the point remains that In terms of our buying policy they count as being in different parts of the strategy. Hamer was earmarked as a direct replacement for our best player last year, the others were punts at squad players and accordingly cheap.

    Hilsner

Hamer cost serious money, that is why he is the exception and Dabo was down to the Chelsea link so not in the same category. The others were out of contract I believe. I think as a plan it was worth a punt, but appears to be too risky for us. Kastaneer ?? Hilsner ?? Jobello - maybe but the odds...
