    O'Brien back tonight

Personally, I think Haynes has got every chance of being a very decent player. It seems fairly well accepted that young players go in and out of form, and key to them progressing is to take them out of the firing line when they're going through a rough spell. When the pressure's off, maybe...

    Fisher on new stadium

The taxpayer is most definitely not away from this mess. If the Wasps thing doesn't work out then guess what happens to the £14m mortgage that the council holds? Who pays it? You're an intelligent bloke, why would you propound such rubbish. And Wasps have 'committed more to the community than...

    Fisher on new stadium

I agree completely with your first point - though there might have been some scope for a haircut it was never going to be for that much. I think it was SISU going behind the council's back to the bank on this that actually started the rot. Regardless if it had have gone through (unlikely), in...

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

I'm not sure I'd entirely agree with your opinion Tony, but it's certainly well put. I think the truth of it is that it would probably need new owners at the club for that to happen. I'm sure that wouldn't much upset anyone, regardless of all other opinions!

    Fisher on new stadium

I'd certainly agree that SISU should've moved far, far earlier to get the stadium. The best deal, imho, was the one proposed in Fisher's roadmap (as quoted in the JR at length). That would've got the club what they needed, and cleared the bloody mortgage (which is now hanging over the...

There's logic in that, agreed, but I've got to say that I can see the other side of it too. I suppose if even the best deal we can hope for from Wasps is an unsustainable deal for the club, maybe the gamble on their failure is actually the only option. Truthfully, as above, I think that SISU...

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

In fairness, we're not a million miles away on this. Of course, this presupposes that SISU can hold a straightforward negotiation, and as I'm sure you've pointed out having a JR pointing at the council that may well impact Wasps isn't going to help. My honest opinion mate, for what it's worth...

Yep, sorry Tony, was paraphrasing. I'm sure we get 100% of the ticket sales - I meant the ancillary stuff like F&B and parking. Stuff that only comes if we're playing at the Ricoh.

Personally speaking, I'd say no. I would, quite honestly, sit tight. However, let's say that you did decide to do a deal with Wasps along these lines - if I was negotiating, I'd start along the lines that without CCFC playing, there is no matchday income at the Ricoh. However having the club...

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

Unless there's access to income streams from ACL, then there probably isn't a good deal to be had from the club's point of view, I'd suggest. It's why the otherwise utterly daft idea of the new stadium actually might have some tiny amount of merit...

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

Fair comment, there's logic to the last point in particular. Honestly though italia, and I'm not saying this to provoke, if I was in Fisher's shoes I think I'd want to sit tight a bit and see how the Wasps thing plays out. I'm far from convinced that it's a certainty that it's going to be the...

Wasps haven't put anything into the infrastructure either, they've just bought the operating company. If CCFC weren't playing at the Ricoh there wouldn't be any matchday income to share. I'm honestly surprised that anyone would think this is a good deal, or that CCFC could thrive on these terms.

    Top Gear

My thought is that they knew this long before going - I don't think the number plate was deliberate, but the boorish, juvenile (and to be honest, occasionally racist) attitude to the places they go to on these world trips seems specifically designed to provoke a reaction. Maybe they got a bit...

Or let's think about what we're actually saying before we write it. You'd tie us into a long term rent deal with Wasps, for just 50% of the matchday revenue? Seriously?

Auditors query Coventry City FC as a going concern

Possibly, but then what would they benefit from keeping the club down by doing this? They'd lose money on both ends - the club makes more if it's successful, and ACL which they'd also own makes more from hosting a successful club.

It's 50% of matchday revenue (of which about 100% is down to the team playing there, presumably). So not 50% of the total revenue. Presumably a new stadium would at least give us access to the total revenue stream. Wasps have bought that for themselves at the Ricoh of course, and with their...

Indeed, perhaps it's a pity it wasn't offered to CCFC for the same amount, eh. They still might not have bought it in fairness, but I guess we'll never know now. Similarly, Wasps would be finished if their benfactor walked away and stopped funding them.

I'd say that you don't do it by demanding the resignation of the bloke you've got to deal with, or that the owners sell up. You stick at it, stay polite, and keep asking the questions. If the owners won't answer then that's what you report. You're there to act as a link between the fans and...
