Club aims to raise £35m from bond

In fairness, I can see that you've accepted that you don't think it's a great investment. However Wasps are committed to paying 6.5% interest a year on the bonds - £2.3m every year if the whole offering is taken, just to service the debt. Given they haven't turned a profit yet and have relied...

Club aims to raise £35m from bond

These are commercial leases, not residential ones. Different rules apply - you can't sell a commercial lease to another third party in the way that you sell a flat. Typically, if the company holding the lease becomes insolvent, the lease reverts to the freeholder. In other words, if you're a...

Club aims to raise £35m from bond

If ACL go bust, I would imagine the leasehold reverts to the Council whether or not the loan is paid. That's the standard process with commercial leases. As you've said, the bond is a poor deal. If it doesn't come off you have to wonder how much of a risk Wasps are to the Council's £14.4m.

Club aims to raise £35m from bond

C'mon Noggin - there is absolutely no comparison here. The UK is a sovereign state capable of printing its own money, and borrowing further funds at very low rates. There's little to no risk in government backed Gilts, which is why pretty much every western economy runs this way. The...

Club aims to raise £35m from bond

£35m at £2,000 each would require 17,500 investors. That's a bit of a stretch, I'd say. I know there are a fair number of people who are happy to go and watch Wasps for free, or even for £15 a ticket - but asking people to put their hands in their pockets for £2,000 might be going a bit far...

    State Aid...

I think you're missing the point here Noggin - as I understand it the second JR (if it happens) will be about the sale of ACL to Wasps, and whether it's appropriate to continue the loan to ACL with Wasps effectively as the guarantor, and CCC having no commercial interest remaining. Without a...

I'm not quite sure the Judge used those terms, but he certainly said the council had a right to protect their commercial interests. Funnily enough though, having sold their stake in ACL to Wasps I don't think that argument is quite as strong if there's another JR about that deal and the...

    Bristol City club shop..

Possibly, CRFC will finish third in the division this time around (iirc). It's a hard league to get out of though, and only one team goes up. Average attendances are up significantly this year (on the back of a successful season, rather than the "Wasps effect" I suspect), and if CRFC can hang...

Season ticket sales drive from SISU

It would be nice if we could sign a moderately exciting player or two, too - though I appreciate this isn't easy in the early close season. I suppose the upside of having a rather average squad is that there really isn't anyone I'd worry about selling the week after the early bird discount...

There isn't a partnership to be had in ACL. Wasps have just confirmed that. Read the article. Can we stop bloody pretending that there was, just to justify supporting them moving here. I'm confused as to why anyone would want a long term rent deal locking the club out of any chance of...

What about if you were loaded and owned Wasps and ACL? I'm sure if you offered Wasps £100 million, they might change their minds. Ditto SISU. That doesn't alter the fact that it was a load of bollocks saying that all that SISU need to do is talk to Wasps to get a deal. Kind of awkward for...

Perhaps we're reading this differently Otis, because this is the line that jumps out at me... “The ownership is as it is. That’s the way it’s going to stay.” Happy, as ever, to agree to differ - appreciate you're offering an honest opinion here, but I can't see this as anything but negative...

It seems to be accepted wisdom because it actually makes pretty good sense. It certainly makes good sense for Wasps, which is presumably why they are not interested in selling it. FFP and SCMP clearly impose problems that require broader income streams than we currently have. Saying those...

C'mon Otis - it's there in black and white. I didn't believe Richardson when he said he wanted to work in partnership with CCFC, because it was obvious to anyone who cared to look that what Wasps wanted was the stadium and they'd have said anything to get it. It also suited the council to...

    PR battles

There's no doubt that Wasps are very good at PR, to go back to the OP. That's not always a good thing though - what they've done here is what every good PR company in the world wants to achieve, hide bad news behind good spin. Bad News I: For CRFC fans, Wasps want to start playing on...

We don't have to assume the worst, it's there in black and white - we're not going to get a share of the stadium. Everyone here who banged on about needing to talk to Wasps to try to get a share should surely accept that it's not going to happen. It seems clear that Wasps think they need the...
