I'm going to guess the sensors are in the posts for the goal line tech but couldn't they have something like Hawkeye that they use at the tennis?

Think a lot of these problems, including things like issues upgrading a ticket, are down to the way the ticketmaster system works rather than anything the club are doing and we aren't really a big enough client for Ticketmaster to pay the slightest bit of attention if we want things like that...

Wonder if we went through this with phones. Today people would think you'd lost the plot if you said you didn't know how to make a phone call. Can't be that far off looking at people who can't do the basics online the same way.

I'm not great with cars past the basics but DIY is a real no go for me, even the most basic things. Get the same as you, everyone is 'that's easy, just look on YouTube' but I've now reached the point where I know its a lot less stress and cheaper overall to get someone in to do it right first...

Last.fm used to be great for recommendations but I can't get it to work at all since I've moved from iTunes to Apple Music No idea how that hasn't either be bought by Apple or them being able to implement similar functionality. It seems like such a basic feature to have on a music streaming service

Don't think anyone is saying there shouldn't be an option for those who genuinely can't buy a ticket any other way, maybe with he caveat that they shouldn't be expecting to be able to walk into the club store at any point and be served immediately. The issue is more around making sure the...

Do places have ticket offices these days that are open at times when there's not an event on? Just thinking of some local ones, NEC and NIA don't, nor do either the O2 Academy or Institute. It's increasingly rare these days. I suspect the only reason we still have one is because we have a...

Pretty sure the old system was just running off a PC sat in the ticket office :ROFLMAO: You'd hope that wasn't the case if they decided to have a new system

While we're talking about personalised product recommendations why is Apple so bad at this? How hard can it be to have a decent recommendation service for music, tv, books etc given I'm 100% locked into the Apple eco system and they know exactly what I'm consuming.

I think a lot of people have forgotten how often the system pre-ticketmaster used to completely collapse. Its obv possible but does the cost of developing an in house system bring any return for the club? The most obvious options to change to are AXS or, for a more local option, Ticket Factory...

you can get a bank account with a debit card from the age of 11, you can get a prepaid card from the age of 6. How many under 6s are turning up at the ticket office to buy tickets with cash? if people miss the postal deadline then collect at the ground or e-tickets there should be a very...

Ticketmaster is part of the same company as Livenation who own or operate venues and are the booking agent for the artist. Their biggest competitor is AXS which is part of AEG who also own or operate venues and are the booking agent for the artist. Years ago Pearl Jam tried to tour without...

I'd look at it the other way round. What can you do at the ticket office that you can't do online? If there's anything then get that fixed on the online system. Absolutely no reason for people to need to go to the ground to get a ticket these days

indeed, I don't really give a shit if Tesco know what I buy. tbh I probably fall into a gap between people who are completely oblivious to what happens with their data and people who fully understand data science. Know enough to be slightly suspicious that someone is up to no good :ROFLMAO:

It's astonishing the number of people on twitter and Facebook who can't grasp the fact that if a season ticket holder doesn't turn up you have an empty seat.

Think it's just a lack of trust. Plenty of people, myself included, thought the same way about their data in general with things like Facebook but then you have things like Cambridge Analytica and you start second guessing what is 'safe'.

There was a C4 Dispatches on concert ticket resale, which isn't illegal, but it showed that the tickets were never being sold at face value. They were passed directly to the resale sites, companies like Ticketmaster own both the primary and resale platforms. Also showed how many people never got...

There's a few options. Clubs can partner with a resale site, resale is not illegal if the club in question has authorised it (which of course in reality means the club is getting a cut of the money the site takes). The other options are they are selling them and hoping they don't get caught, or...

Think selling a game on your season ticket is a bit different to just letting your mate use it as a favour. Isn't resale of football tickets without the authorisation of the home club technically illegal?
