    4-4-2

I must have stumbled into a parallel universe. We played 4-4-2 on Saturday.

    McNulty.

He's definitely got a history for dodgy decision making:

    Gills fan's view

If he thinks their goal was the biggest bit of quality difference between the two sides it's as large a slice of bias as I've heard for a while. Our quality on the ball was head ans houlders above thiers, we just have a very young team which misses some match experience and suffered decision...

    Yesterday

Man accused of being pissed, acts like he is pissed and then is angry about being treated like he is pissed.

    Player Ratings

Totally deceiving performance - looked great in areas that don't hurt a team but his decision making/execution was horrendous once he got around the 18 yard box. That run to the edge of the box where he spooned a shot over instead of slipping in a completely unmarked Bayliss was criminal and...

    Player Ratings

Burge - 6 - Looked a lot more assured than LOB and made a good save in the first half after their player had walked round 6 of our defenders. Looked like he should have done better at his near post for the goal. Grimmer - 5 - Solid defensively for most of the game but got beat far too easily on...

Looked like Farndon on the sidelines but no Viveash today. That normal?

Thomas has looked like Ryan Kent, superb til 18 yards out and then his execution, passing or shooting, has been poor.

Does a goal straight from kick off count as a set piece or open play? :D

Promising first half. Could have scored 3, could have conceded a couple too. It's reminded me very much of the L2 games last year against direct opposition. Midfield 4 have been good. Doyle's hoovered up the knock downs from their long balls and Shipley and Thomas have got between the lines and...

He's French, it'll only be half a pint and take him 2 hours to drink it.

We should be very familiar with them - the core of this team had plenty of practice against teams like Wycombe, Lincoln, Notts County etc

Don't really mind if we do lose when we play like this. It's looking like a reboot of the season, I'll take it as Robins wiping the slate clean. This is what should have happened vs Scunthorpe - the bulk of last season's team being given the chance to prove themselves in a higher division.

Round pegs, round holes today. Everyone looks like they understand their role and everyone looking better for it. Could do with getting the first goal here as Gillingham will concede more chasing the game.

Doyle's looking better than he has all season too so far - if Gillingham are going to spend the game hoofing it at their 9 then it's going to play right into his hands.

JCH looking up for it so far. Some good movement and touches.

Another squad selection that raises as many questions as it answers with Sterling, Ogogo completely out. Be interesting to see how Grimmer and JCH respond to being left out recently. I don't much fancy Doyle in a 4-4-2 in L1 at 37, if it is that set up.

The wording of the offal makes it sound closer to a 4-4-2: 'Michael Doyle captains the side and he is joined in the centre of midfield by Tom Bayliss. Jordan Shipley keeps his place out on the left, with Luke Thomas on the other flank, having made his first start for the Sky Blues against...

    Tom Bayliss

Well yes way we did. Liam O'Brien shanked a kick down field under no pressure out of play. We had 10 seconds to organise it from the ball going out of play but we chose to drop that deep. Hiwula drops all the way back and applies no pressure - like they are having to think about their...
