Silly season for QB market. Apparently some silly offers for Wentz now - particularly from the Bears reportedly.

Ruud gullit - how good in his prime

Outstanding player. Also sky was the limit for Van Basten before his injuries. That AC team was up there with best club side ever. Went against the norm for dull Italian League football. Was a purple period when C4 had live Seria A.

Stafford wasn't Rams first choice. Had approached Packers about Rodgers first but told no. So far seems Carolina, Washington and 2 others had offered at least a 1st for Stafford. Only team Stafford refused to go to was long-time suitor -the Patriots (because they had hired Patricia).

So Rams will have an 8 year gap between their last ( Goff) and their next 1st round pick in 2024. Going to be some holes in that roster soon with salary cap if keep relying on free agency.

I'm not sure I like the deal but like the philosophy. "Don't be happy with 10-6, go for the Championship. " Something Vikings owners would never go. This deal pushes NFC teams to be more aggressive as Rams should be better although still have key players entering free agency. I expect 49ers to...

Rams manage to offload Goff but that's a big price to pay for Stafford. Basically giving away 2 firsts just to offload Goff's contract. Just goes to show you can offload any contract in a cap system. Plus gives an indication of what Houston could get for Watson if they trade him. Plus not sure I...

    Cov fans in the wild.

Most obscure was in a village was a group on the northern border of Senegal. Had gotten shirts from clothes packages and started following us. Met them all round the world. Closer to home (for me) one of my daughter's law professors in Budapest turned out to a City fan. Met a few more Hungarians...

Interesting. Relegated sides have recently held most their players. Obviously most sides that "reside" in the bottom half of PL do build in relegation pay-cuts. As the 29k is an average you could see that for example the average between us and Stoke is probably around 29k. For every Stoke...

Highlights the ridiculousness of Championship finances. latest published figures had wage bills at 107% of income. Parachute payments remain an issue - creating basically a sub group between top of Championship and bottom of PL with certain clubs yo-yoing between the divisions. Villa's wage bill...

Ideally for the Texans (if they have to trade him) it's either a massive haul over a short period of time (which is basically either Jets or Dolphins) or it's to the NFC - which would have to be more player swap based. Watson at the 49ers . Do like deluded Rams fans thinking a straight swap for...

Not a surprise. Issues with management. No real chance to improve next couple of seasons due to no draft capital or cap space for free agency. Not a team free agents are going to want to go even if Watson was QB. Landing spot who knows. Jets got as many holes as Texans and going to cost them...

Matty James is a great example. Apparently on around 30k at Leicester so even with a pay cut into the Championship still an expensive option for a Championship side managing even a decent income.

Plenty of scope. Just don't fall into the trap of paying ex-PL players. Way too many ordinary players on low end PL money based on historical wages rather than performance.

Wednesday symptomatic of the mismanagement of clubs in the Championship. Spending money they don't have. think last published wage bill was 42m against 23m income for a team that's spent last 4/5 years mid-table at best. Championship clubs still spending based on what the top end Championship...

Not as enjoyable but probably a bigger achievement just down to budgets particularly when it comes to squad depth. We've seen all sorts of players we couldn't possibly afford on other teams' benches when we've played tehm.

Looks like Culley to the Texans. Slightly odd/unambitious but not controversial. But the internal power structure basically confirmed. Don't think it will placate Watson

Don't get that. Fields had a couple of difficult games but Ohio State had between 20-30 starters missing from many games due to COVID. Plus Fields didn't have the weapons Jones did. I like Jones but he needs to go into a strongish team. He's not going to change a team single-handed. Fields has...

So first major mock draft has 5 QBs going in top 15 picks. Most for about 20 years. Going to see possibly the biggest QB rotation in NFL history.
