Do you want to discuss boring politics?

That's as well thought through a post as I've seen for a while. I appreciate that's a pretty low bar, but still. 🙂 I think the one place where we might politely differ, is that there are some open goals that Labour seems to have moved away from since Starmer took over. I can't imagine that...

Driving round Coventry in the 80’s

You didn't see many of them about even in those days, as I recall. I'll rewatch! My old man had both a Chrysler 180 and a Chrysler 2 litre at some point. I loved how they looked as a kid. They really are incredibly rare these days. Knowing my old man, I suspect he bought them because he could...

Driving round Coventry in the 80’s

I always assumed it was a safety feature so you could hear them coming. Talbot: Loud tappets save lives! 😄

    COV RFC 2022 - 2023

Fwiw, my experience of taking young kids to the Butts is to sit in the stand, take fruit shoots and sweets in with you (because the club don't seem to cater for kids particularly well, imho), and have a tablet or phone with plenty of charge for when they inevitably get bored. 😁 If you're under...

Driving round Coventry in the 80’s

The cars! Two Austin Landcrabs, a Reliant Robin, Vauxhall Viva HC estate (properly rare), couple of Series Landys, and a surprising amount of Talbots. When's the last time you saw a Talbot on the road?! Poor lane choice on Four Pounds Ave though... 😁

    Fiona Bruce

Fair point on what he was (or claimed to be), NW, but you've only got to look at his Twitter feed to see what he is. And yet strangely, the BBC have never pulled him up on their social media guidelines...

    Fiona Bruce

Yeah, except for Andrew Neil, Alan Sugar, and Nick Robinson, who were overtly Tory, and Kuennsberg who interviews Tories like they're her best mates whilst actually making up stuff about Corbyn, and Bruce who for reasons known best to her and her millionaire Tory husband, went out of her way to...

    Issue with SBT on Mobile

It's gone a bit bananas on Chrome on my Android phone. I'm thinking Nick has been dabbling with something. 😁

    What are you snobby about?

I'm not for a moment saying you're wrong, but I'd always much prefer instant coffee to any of the posh stuff. And unless I'm dozing off, I'd always prefer a big mug of tea to either. Despite all pretence to the contrary, I am a clearly a deeply uncivilised man, I apologise. 😁

    USSR invades Ukraine.

I'm not for a moment saying that there isn't a large element of playing to the gallery for the politicians involved, especially Johnson. However, isn't it also fairly obvious that without western support, Russia takes a sovereign, democratic, European state, by force. Is that acceptable to you?

    USSR invades Ukraine.

In the sense of providing weapons and ammunition to enable Ukraine to defend itself. I'm trying to understand your point of view, but it's hard to gauge your argument from the odd pithy remark. Why not explain where you're coming from?

    USSR invades Ukraine.

That's not really what I'm asking mate. In your opinion should we support Ukraine against the Russians or not?

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Liz Truss is a complete twat, FP, I think we can all agree on that. What I'm confused about though is where you're coming from on Ukraine. There are two choices here, support them, or let Russia take over the entire country. What would you do?

    USSR invades Ukraine.

I wouldn't expect too many surprises, just more threats and bluster. Maybe further conscriptions to "defend the motherland". At home he's obviously pitching it as a war against NATO, in reality of course he knows that his only real hope is to try to keep the west divided and indecisive.

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Changing a policy platform? Really? They were cast iron commitments that he made to the membership as a condition of his leadership campaign. Then, as soon as he got power he rolled back on them immediately and started the purge. I get that integrity means fuck all to some people, which is...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Fundamentally it seems that the Labour party will always get the leader that the right wing press find the most acceptable. As a Labour party member, I voted for Corbyn, because I could never in good conscience vote for anyone who sat on their hands whilst the Tories pushed through their...

    Wasps signs have actually gone!!

Probably a bit more ethical, or at the very least regulated by the FCA who are (finally) all over responsible lending and the fair treatment of vulnerable customers. The real sharks here were the payday lenders whose model seemed to depend on customers going into default and accumulating...

    USSR invades Ukraine.

Given you're pretty close to it all, do you have any thoughts on how it all ends? My uneducated guess is a year or so of relative, grinding, hideous, horrific, stalemate, and then Putin slips whilst cleaning his penthouse windows. That might be a bit optimistic though...

    COV RFC 2022 - 2023

I'm not sure the members at Stourbridge will be entirely keen on this rebrand mate. They're not exactly a big club, but there is a lot of history there. We (Cov) played them in 1880! This might not be plain sailing for the (wankers) at Atlas, I think they may have jumped the gun a bit with...
