    USSR invades Ukraine.

Surely Russia. Removes a strategic path across the river and makes conditions downstream more difficult for the Ukrainian counter-offensive. It's also an incredibly dangerous act that fits in with Putin's entire approach to the war. I think it probably also shows how nervous the Russians are...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

If it was any normal human being I'd completely agree mate, but Boris is such a deluded narcissist I think he genuinely believes the country will have him back regardless (cf Trump). Step one is to ditch Rishi of course...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It's about dropping Sunak in the shit, mostly, I think. There's a huge sense of betrayal from Johnson and his followers and they'd love to wreck Sunak's premiership. No matter how damning any evidence might be for Johnson, I think he believes that the Conservative Party membership would vote...

    Preseason 23/24 starting with.....

I do enjoy a good pre-season fixture when the opportunity avails itself... @Otis, what are the trains like for this one, mate? 😁

    Nicola Payne Documentary

And because they are utter, lowlife, criminal scrotes, of course. I would think the chance of any viable DNA would be long gone now, but they might have been stupid enough to leave something else behind I suppose. I like the thought that the renewed focus might make the guilty parties feel a...

    Coventry United Ladies...

Indeed there is. Might as well forget everything I've written. Be good if they could step up a level or two and start playing in Coventry instead of Kenilworth perhaps. https://www.ccwgfc.co.uk/clubinfo/About%20Our%20Club

Didn't know they were still going as an adult team mate. They should jump in now that CUFC have gone, imho...

    Coventry United Ladies...

Yep, that's the thing. Start with a small amateur team at the lower levels that just needs minimal financial support. Maybe some help towards kit and mini-bus hire for away games. Occasional coaching and physio input from the people already at the club perhaps. If there's sufficient support...

    Coventry United Ladies...

It really depends how big a crowd doesn't it. The BPA obviously holds plenty enough for the level we're talking about, and Cov United have just given up their slot...

    Coventry United Ladies...

The BPA is the obvious place if there's moderate crowd interest. If we're talking handfuls at first then any half decent pitch would do, maybe the Higgs or the University. It doesn't have to be a Saturday 3pm fixture so there are a number of options.

    Pens

I'd pay to watch that too! I like the idea of something a bit fairer like perhaps the ABBA penalty order thing, but I'm still not quite sure how that works...

    Coventry United Ladies...

I always thought that the guy who took them over was a dreamer with nothing substantial behind him. It's a kick in the teeth for the people who followed the side at the BPA, but perhaps inevitable that the club couldn't survive in its current form. Is there a gap now for a CCFC women's team...

    Strikers that could replace vik

If you really cared about the club you'd convert to fundamentalist Mormonism and bring us in at least half a new squad. 😁

I've driven a few Porsches, none of them mine of course (and not nicked either!). Downhill corners in the wet is supposed to be the widow maker for rear engined cars, iirc, but by the time I was old enough to borrow one I was way too careful to find out. 😄 Had a good go in their 4x4 monster...

    Attendances next season

You'd have to hope for an uplift on last season wouldn't you, I'm sure that some new fans will have got the bug, and I don't see many old ones drifting away. Plus, at least according to the council's figures, there's also the literally tens of thousands of Wasps fans in the city, with millions...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

I thought the real reason that the Imp was built by Scottish nailbenders 🙂 was that Rootes was bribed by the government to shift production there. I think the theory that if you can weld a 3" thick steel plate on a 50,000 tonne ship, then you can install a fiddly dashboard on a small car was...

    Doug King Interview

Back on topic though, I can't see that King has done much wrong yet, but I think "trust but verify" is always going to be the right approach towards anyone daft enough to buy a football club. Especially ours. 🙂

Best and worst Sky Blue moments

Best: Houchen's header and the final whistle in 1987. Honourable mentions: Speedie chipping the goalie at various grounds. Any Big Mo dribble. Peter Ndlovu leaving Liverpool players on their arses. Worst: Can't think of many. Lloyd McGrath breaking his leg in a nothing game, perhaps...

    Wasps downward spiral...

“How did you go bankrupt?” Bill asked. “Two ways,” Mike said. “Gradually and then suddenly.” A line from Hemingway, says Google. It's also the story of rugby's Premiership.
