Heart is saying city win with much improved set pieces again, head is saying Middlesboro will be a big, strong, typical Warnock side and bully us off the park.

    Fresh Ricoh talks

It doesn't have to be a constant stream of updates, I don't want a poll on the carpet colours every other week. But the club could still occasionally explain what the next step is and what the delays are when things hit a significant unexpected hitch. There's only a few people who will be...

We're gonna win today. Robins will play a new formation, use all his subs in the first half, and Rose will score the winner from a Kastaneer cross.

In an old school 4-3-3 the width came from the 2 wide forwards who effectively played as wingers but int he modern 4-3-3 the width comes from the fullbacks. In fact they're not really fullbacks in a 4-3-3 and in possession of the ball should actually be higher than the 3 central midfielders, at...

    Tony Mowbray

'Knapsack on a stick for Mowbray' doesn't roll off the tongue so well.

Stay calm it’s a long season

Agree with that completely with regards to the Swansea game and yes we did well to weather it and yes we should have won in the end but the reason we did is that they gave us time and space to play, which was almost their downfall. Swansea's spell of dominance came from scoring right before...

Stay calm it’s a long season

Did you really think we were the better team in that 15 minutes? Their press was highlighting exactly the same issues as in every other game we've played a team that presses. We barely got out of our own half except for that one incisive counter for Godden's chance. I mean we were coping ok with...

    Sheaf

He and Kelly looked good together first 15 minutes but we were camped in our half even before we went down to 10 men. There's no one to pass forwards to when they get the ball and O'Hare ended up almost playing as a left winger trying to find some space and escape markers.

    System and players

Every team in this league will have now seen how we've struggled each game we've come up against a press. We aren't good enough to try the slow build from the back in this league when put under pressure and we are making basic, fundamental errors because of it. We could barely get out of our...

    Plan B

It's close with him and McCallum. I think McCallum offers more defensively in a back 4.

    Plan B

Central defence a worry but need to find a partnership that works. McFadz looked terrible in a back 4 today.

    O'Hare, Allen and Godden

Just said on the plan B thread that 4-3-3 is the way to go. O'Hare-Godden-Walker and Shipley, Bakayoko and Allen can come off the bench for them as appropriate. Our strength this year is in Sheaf-Kelly-Hamer so they should all play in a 3 which allows Dabo and McCallum/Giles licence to get...

    Plan B

Where is our strength this year? In the DMs for me - Kelly, Sheaf and Hamer. Sheaf and Hamer are quarterbacks anyway, rather than traditional DMs - so base the team around those 3. O'Hare and Walker play as inside forwards, not wingers, and give us some pace off godden. The width still comes...

    Plan B

It's not a Plan B we need. It's a better plan A against teams that press.

Swansea dropped a bollock by not pressing us, still can't believe they gave us so much space in midfield.

Was interesting reading some comments from Jack Wilshere today: "People will say what they want and footballers get paid well, but there is nothing more draining and saps your confidence more than when you know you are not going to play, that no matter what you do in training, or what the other...

4-3-2 from here on in. Godden is defending too deep so even if we do win the ball there's no outlet. Biamou for O'Hare now and Bapaga and Baka for some pace and ball carry instead of Allen and Godden after 65 mins

    Match Thread Blackburn

There was one moment after about 35 minutes where O'Hare is driving at the defender who is flat footed on the edge of their area and instead of just cutting inside him and getting a left foot shot off he delayed and delayed until he could pass to Godden. Kind of summed up his last few games for me.

I like Clive too. He might get a few names wrong but he's a good commentator. Won't be many better combos in the country than Clive and Oggy for commentary and insight.
