Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

America is already acting against itself with these tariffs, it's clearly going to damage its own economy. All those people who voted for Trump because of cost of living issues, are soon going to find out how little he actually cares about them. The right might control the media, but they...

    Germany *again*

With apologies for the lengthy rant, I get a bit pissed off with the whole "hang-em-and-flog em" knee jerk suggestions to stop kids carrying knives. On its own, it simply doesn't work. I'll let you do your own research, but when you think about it calmly you'll realise that a lot of kids are...

Transfer Rumour New signing pending - Rabbi Matondo

Bollocks to Rangers. They've done us too often in any case. Four words... Sandy Robertson. Kevin Drinkell. 😁

In fairness, I could've come up with a well reasoned argument against all of that, except for that last bit in brackets. You've got me there. You win. 😁

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

I'm sure you're right. It's a(nother) culture war trigger point to reduce focus on what President Musk/Trump is doing elsewhere. "Look at these libtards upholding the constitution!" They will make exactly this argument when the time comes.

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Doesn't the President have to literally take an oath to uphold the constitution? Maybe he had his fingers crossed behind his back or something...

Exactly. And controlling a very high powered car (or feckin' huge horse) also requires controlled physical motion, strength and technical control. So by your definition, a driver or jockey, must also be an athlete. If sport is something in which human athletes compete, then motor racing and...

Again, define athletic. What's athletic about golf?

Define athlete. Is shot putting a sport? Weight lifting? Golf?

Dunno why I didn't just get a job as a racing driver or a jockey, knowing this.... Is it too late to apply do you think?

So there's no skill involved in being a jockey either? Again then, why do the best ones get paid more than the worst ones?

You should be on telly, mate. At least then we could turn you off. 😁

It's certainly pretty important, yes. Always has been in motor sport of all kinds, but most people still consider it a sport in which the driver clearly also influences the result. How about horse racing, is that not a sport either?

If it's _just_ the machinery, why do the best drivers get paid so much more than the worst ones? Why not just put an engineer in the car rather than a driver, cheaper and more expendable!

Do they set off at exactly the same time mate? I get that you don't like F1, but it quite clearly isn't the same as being an astronaut. Get over it, or grow a sense of humour, is my advice.

I don't know mate, I think that's splitting hairs. Until they're literally firing off two rockets to the moon at the same time, and awarding medals to the winner, I don't think competitive astronauting is a thing. When they do it though, I'll watch, that's for sure. 😁

Forgot about them. Good shout mate, for bugger all money too, for a lot of them at least.

Not quite sure they're the fittest mate, but you do have to have strength, stamina, and courage, to drive an F1 car, agreed. It's just got a bit tedious for me personally, and I used to love it (each to their own, obviously). I once had a posh track day at Silverstone, where we got to have a...
