    Southport Stabbing

Fully supportive of the social services actions if they believed a child (children) were at risk. Let's be honest it happens far too frequently than we'd like to think - over 103,000 in UK mainly for abuse and neglect according to children's charities. Social services having to deal with over...

    Southport Stabbing

Isn't this just a " typical" social services case when they remove children believed to be at risk? If a child dies in a case where social services are aware of issues it also becomes national news. Maybe the media and politicians should have taken race out of it from the start.

Probably the worst county atm to try and come through the ranks at - with their big budget approach. Also with the downgrading of the 50 over comp a lot of counties take on players (mainly from ECB premier divisions) on small contracts tocover this period

Trump is my favourite comedian of the year already

Actually more unpopular than Palin. An ego pick done without taking advice from outside of his sycophantic inner circle. Vance has little experience, not popular with many Republican politicians and closely associated with Project 2025 (which will become a major campaign issue). He's a weakness...

Bit of a British thing - we don't like our sporting stars to be too much of a personality?? His self-confidence often accused of being arrogance - maybe another British hang-up? For me he's an outstanding sportsman. In a sport so often dominated by drivers from wealthy backgrounds he's had to...

Maybe I've missed it but how come so many of the top Aussies are playing in the US 20/20 rather than the Hundred?

Those stats don't apply solely to civil service. Many of those countries utilities & railways (for example) are still govt-owned and so included in these particular OECD stats. UK civil service is currently aound the 510 k mark. Not sure where I said bloated but the context was why it was still...

civil service employment numbers up around 130,000 (35%) since 2016. Govts keep talking about reducing numbers but haven't got it through. This Govt may well raise taxes but good luck collecting them with the current work backlog and the fact still around half HMRC employees are still working...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

Same tune with every election. Opposition promises to fix things but then claims there isn't the money. This time Labour didn't really have to do any sums as they were always going to walk the election as people just sick of Conservatives. Every party says they'll sort out public sector waste -...

Even after all these years you learn something new. Every race apart from Spa has a cooldown lap where drivers are told to drive through the "dirty" areas in order to pick up rubber debris onto the still warm tyres - apparently worth between 2-3 kgs.

Apparently it's the extra rubber he used up by only one stopping . Interesting thing is the car was exactly the right weight before the fuel tank was emptied. So just 1.5kg of fuel left in car at the end of the race - that's cutting it mighty fine.

Genuinely fascinated about how Trump will handle any Presidential debate they might have. That could be a banana skin - not so much the content but the behaviour.

Panicked because they made a mess of concentrating on Max at Silverstone that probably cost them the race. This time overly cautious about Hamilton who really wasn't a threat having cooked both his sets of hards in going too quick earlier in the early laps after each pitstop. The notion of "this...

McLaren's strategy set-up isn't working well and some major mistakes this season seems to have created a sense of doubt in the team. There's definitely an argument for Norris letting Piastri through earlier then attacking him. Key issue for Norris is to start better. That's what's probably...

No it is a slamdunk - seen many penalties given for exactly that on that particular corner. Can't take the line Max did at that speed late braking on that turn - there isn't the space. Max being old Max - driving angry and on the reckless side.

Unnecessary call by McClaren there's a sense that's there's a lack of confidence in their race strategy staff particularly in race. Norris had closed the gap, Hamilton had obviously cooked his new tyres early so it was an overly conservative call. Mclaren garage was split on the decision to...
