    CCFC awards night

Was that at our feeder club?

Match Thread Stoke City (A) - Sat 7th May 12:30

Didn't think Jones looked at all out of his depth. Always looking to get on the ball, looked strong on it, moved it quickly and accurately.

    Which one

I think people underestimate how quickly Hamer looks to get the ball forward and into dangerous areas when they say he will be easiest to replace. Combine that with his technical ability, he has qualities you very rarely see in defensive midfielders.

    Sheaf

Unless I misunderstood it, the flaw in his recent rankings is CBs playing in 2 vs a back 3. The wide CBs in a 3 have quite a different role, especially in possession, and will have more emphasis on ball carrying and progressive passing so weighting certain characteristics higher than others...

    Waghorn

I like Waghorn as a player. His pressing is good, he has a good footballing brain - he's always looking for triangles, to pass and move and to play 1-2s, can strike a deadball well. Just don't think he's got the speed over 10 metres to trouble defences at this level any more. Like his 1 on 1...

    Ratings

Robins was clearly worried about Carroll and our wingbacks spent very little time in the opposition half during the first half, which I think was a deliberate tactic to not give WBA time to cross the ball from wide. It's not a great formation for playing possession football if your wingbacks are...

Woeful decision for the pen, woeful execution of it and a great save.

Gyokeres has misplaced some very simple passes today. Frustrating.

Far too happy to pass backwards this half from promising positions.

Must be close to bringing Waghorn on for Allen.

Match Thread WBA (A) - Sat 23rd April

Ben Sheaf has been excellent today at dropping into the spaces to offer an outlet for the defence and then keeping the ball ticking over under pressure.

Our final 3rd passing has largely been atrocious today.

Gyokeres needs to go down the outside on his left foot sometimes. Too predictable in those one on one situations that he wants to cut inside on his right.

Wingbacks have been very deep so far. Guess that's to try and minimise the amount of crosses into Carroll but that's limiting our options to build the play and making us very counter-attacking as a result. Gyokeres having to do a lot of running in the channels to provide an outlet.

3 Areas to improve next season

Defence would be the priority for me and I think we need 2 if not 3 more CBs. 1) Fadz needs a long term replacement 2) We need a left sided CB Rose and Hyam should be fighting it out for one spot and the other providing the first change on a matchday if needed. 3) An upgrade on our development...

Match Thread Bournemouth (H) Easter Monday

I wouldn't be bothered if we moved either or both of Rose and Hyam on in the summer. Hyam has improved loads this year but he needed to. They must be the least intimidating centre backs in the league. I'd say we need at least 3 signings in that position in the summer.

As soon as Bidwell was down on the ground Rose should be tucking in to make a 2 instead of leaving a gap of 30 metres between Hyam and himself. He's got no-one to mark and the only danger is Solanke. Dopey defending.

Match Thread Bournemouth (H) Easter Monday

Been a lively performance so far, outplaying a really strong Bournemouth side, just missing a little composure around the box for the final ball. Let ourselves down badly with the marking for their goal. Is it just nerves driving all the negative comments?

26th time this season we've conceded first. Pretty shocking stat from 43 games.
