Guardian: Coventry City rent stand-off threatens League One club's existence

Emailed David Conn at the Guardian about Coventry City, Hedge-funds, Sisu etc about 3 or 4 years ago, saying that it might be worth a closer look as he had been running some articles on football finances and who exactly owns who and what etc. Never heard a word back. Suppose that being...

So we save the rent money !!

Really? Everton fans maight buy a Duncan Ferguson or a David Moyes one, but don't think Kilbane a big enough player for them, and lacks bad boy cult status too. Same would go for Ireland fans, a Roy Keane, Jack Charlton, Niall Quinn would(and have sold well), but don't think too may would rush...

So we save the rent money !!

It's very good that it's going to charity, especuially given his personal circumstances. Still don't think that much of a market for his autobiography though, nobody buys biographies unless it's a comedian nowadays sadly.

Are we, the fans being too nice about all this ?

I'm going to be a trifle miffed at the next game. Nobody wants to mess with me when i'm a bit miffed.

    A Reminder to ACL...

I'm sure he wouldn't mind moving to a 32,000 seater stadium, but if only averaging 13,500 crowds in Northampton, how many would he expect to get in Coventry? With only 11 home league games a season as well of course. Not even close to being a runner.

    A Reminder to ACL...

Leicester haver about the highest average crowd in the Rugby Premiership of 20,000. Why would they move out of a ground they own to rent one 20 miles away?

    A Reminder to ACL...

Which sport and team? Not really anybody in Rugby Union with the crowds and resources to pay for the Ricoh.

    Thank you Mark Robins

"The manager doesn't make any difference, we could have Ferguson in and he wouldn't be able to do any better with this bunch of players." Think that Robins this season has proven the above totally false, a real manager does make a difference, and would have done last season too.

What the Ricoh has done for Coventry

Should never have been given an extension to his contract last year after 3 years of being injury prone and poor.
