They released him with only a youth team keeper remaining so yes. Must have missed the handful of Championship teams falling over themselves to sign him too.

"Widely"? He did ok for a few games, having been dropped earlier in the season after a catalogue of howlers. Fact is they chose to release him & start the season with only youth team goalkeepers before signing Etheridge. Hardly a glowing endorsement.
