West Brom amassed more xg than us despite sitting on a lead for 75 minutes. We did not create numerous opportunities. Our best chance was created by their defender.
For all our possession/territory we looked toothless. Robins needs to be getting them to move the ball quicker and go from back to...
Wrong. West Brom had the better chances even after sitting on a lead for 75 mins. 1.96 xg v 1.82, 3 big chances v 2.
There is now a clear blueprint to getting a win against us. Sit deep, score from errors/set pieces and then sit back and defend the lead.
Main issue is we build up so slowly. By the time we reach the attacking third the opposition have 9 or 10 men behind the ball and then you need world class technicians to break a team down.
Robins needs to be coaching to move the ball quicker even if that means we give up some possession. It’s...
“If we scored all our chances and they didn’t we’d have won!”
When our only routes to goal are penalties and chances handed to us by the opposition we’re in a bad place.
Seeing some solid primary evidence in this thread of the wider effect of our poor form. Momentum built from last year in terms of the fanbase is rapidly disappearing, not that I can blame people at all.
Our identity and way of playing was largely to sit deep with essentially 6/7 defensive players, then pass to Hamer/Gyokeres and let them do their thing. Much simpler tactically than whatever Robins seems to be trying now.
Really? He was a one trick pony to begin, unbelievable pace but as soon as defenders worked out he only had one foot it was over.
The drop to L2 suited him though, sad that he was robbed of what looked like an exceptional season.
I’m unconvinced by most of his touches of the ball tbh, seems to struggle to get and keep it under control and his shooting action takes so long that most of them are telegraphed.
