I'm expecting them to sit deep, get bodies behind the ball and try and hit us with pace on the break. (Like they did against Ipswich)
I also think they will be very physical and try to rattle us.
We need to be patient and keep moving the ball, and eventually we'll open them up.
Exactly.
Some people are way over optimistic.
Maidstone have had plenty of rest and time to prepare, it's going to be a lot tighter than some expect.
I'm going 2-0 city, but the goals may come late on.
Loosing out on a playoff place due to the fixture congestion and player fatigue and the resulting injuries.
Put a price on that.
We all love a good cup run, but we really don't have the squad to handle it.
Yea agreed, Definitely expect us to see Maidstone off, I expect Tavares to come in for Sakamoto, but I think the playoffs will be a tough task now, not because of Fridays result, but due to the injuries to key players and the lack of real depth in the squad.
We all know our squad is one of the smallest in the championship, but when you consider that Fadz has left us, Godden's legs have left him, and we're basically having to carry players like Moore, Kelly and Tavares, you suddenly appreciate just how paper thin this squad really is.
I think we've been punching above our weight in recent weeks, and the expectation level has risen as a result, which is to be expected, and keeps the dreams of promotion alive.
But the reality is that we have a very decent first 11, but as soon as 1 or 2 get injured or need resting...
Any decent keeper would have claimed that ball or punched it away, Wilson has a clear path, isn't impeded in any way, and has a long enough time to make a decision, but is rooted to his line and basically becomes a spectator as the ball flies into the net.
The other two goals weren't his...
We need far more than that.
In an ideal world, we would off load, Wilson, Moore, Dasilva, Binks, Kelly, Allen, Wright, Simms, Godden, and Tavares.
And our u23 squad would be completely overhauld.
But that's a lot to ask in 1 transfer window.
