The 'One season fluke' reality facing most Championship clubs

Indeed. Matty James was rated higher than Drinkwater if not for his injuries. Drinkwater had a lot of off field issues too.

Ah, fair enough & plausible. It's more the comments of "We'd have averaged 3 x more over the course of a season" types I'm talking about. Just not possible, we have a completely apathetic fanbase & given our history most would have expected us to screw it up anyway! Maybe a couple of the more...

No. On the odd one off game maybe but to average it over the season like some claim is ridiculous. I think people forget that when we have averaged high(ish) attendances it's always been in the Premier League & Championship where the numbers are swelled by the away attendance too. If you...

Likewise everyone keeps peddling that we'd have had 20k+ average at the Ricoh & it's just farcical.

    Chuks Aneke

Ability wise 100% starter but the injuries/fitness are still a concern. He's only played 90mins once all season & managed just over 1500mins. That's less than Kelly & only marginally more than Godden. If it could be managed correctly, as it was with Charlton last season, he'd be a hell of an...

15 goals from just over 1500mins which is approaching a goal every 90mins. 39 of 85 shots have been On Target - an impressive 46%. This is way above the likes of Jerry Yates & Joe Piggott & even edges out JCH in Shot Accuracy.

    Chuks Aneke

Sensational player, on ability alone he's far too good for League One but has horrendous injury/fitness problems meaning he misses huge amounts of game time. I can't see it for that reason but, with 5 subs probably being permitted again next season, it might be possible to manage his minutes...

    Ben Sheaf future

2 separate injuries. He came off at half-time vs Forest in Feb because of a hamstring injury, the April one was his hip whilst playing for the U23s.

    furlough

You absolutely can sign players even whilst using the furlough scheme - fans just love a conspiracy theory. There was pretty widespread condemnation of Barrow back in January where they just furloughed a load of their out of favour players & signed new ones to replace them. Unethical yes but...

Can't be Wilson, that will be in this year's. More likely is ongoing payments for someone like Maddison or even George Thomas/Cian Harries or similar.

In any other business yes, it would be crazy, but most football clubs run at significant losses. You seem to think the St Andrews move was a deliberate ploy & purely down to them which, as you criticised another poster for, is conjecture. They've since negotiated a better deal than we've ever...

100% I don't think anyone is expecting us to make £95m in 5 years (if they do then more fool them). Although Brentford are still bottom half wage budget their turnover is also one of the lowest in the division. In any other business it'd be unsustainable. For me it's more about finding...

Not entirely no but most can look to emulate their recruitment model. They've made c.£95m+ profit on transfers in just 5 years. Much, much more difficult now though.
