Strange time to drop Allen, just as he’s finally starting to show he has ability. He did the same with Giles and Sheaf, just as players start to find form and match sharpness they are dropped/rested. I don’t mind Shipley, but he’s been poor this season. Rabbit in headlights at times and/or...

    Running

A few of you have mentioned it’s worth joining a running club. Debating joining a local one, but what are the actual benefits and reasons behind recommending joining a club?

I am on my second pair of ASICS Gel Kayano - they support my ankles really well and are fairly neutral in terms of they aren’t lightweight speed shoes, nor overly heavy cross country types. I wear them on both muddy cross country and road runs and they work well for both. I had no idea what I...

Happy new year sky blue army

Happy New Year All. It was fantastic to have this forum to live through the promotion with, as none of us could really celebrate in the manner we would have liked with our usual (real life in person!) social circles. We probably make up a tiny percentage of Coventry fans, but this is a great...

Thanks Travs. So you’d run past the Astley Book Farm? Looks an interesting and new route, I’m just slightly nervous of the roads around there as are quite windy from memory and cars do go at a bit of a pace!

    Running

Not ran for a few days (although I have been on the Peloton instead) and drank more ale than usual the last few nights, but hoping to finish the year with a half this afternoon - even if it’s slow going! Planning to run to my Grans near Holy Family school (Beake Avenue, Holbrooks), likely...

Yep, Hyam is the new boo boy and some are revelling in it. Sheaf never stood a chance. He’s by no means set the world alight and he’s inconsistent, but he’s going to be, he’s young, inexperienced and playing in a new league. He’s also shown glimpses of his ability and importantly potential...

Hamer has been poor tonight, which isn’t a one off. Yes he has a quality about him and great vision, but he’s also adapting to a new league and standard. He isn’t single handedly going to win us games. Equally it doesn’t excuse him from criticism, especially when it’s piled on others.

It’s a shite score line and not sure we have enough about us to change it now, but it’s not deserved today. Ultimately, the underlying issue is we lack quality and that player or two who can change a game. We have good players, but we need and individual or two to elevate us offensively. I do...

Another terrible terrible goal. Not sure that can be blamed on Wilson? Comedy of errors all round. Dabo has their RB beaten but none of his crosses have got anywhere as it’s only midgets in the box attacking the ball.

We are losing due to a silly individual error. Don’t let that get in the way of the fact this is the most in a game I can remember us being for ages. We’ve looked the stronger side. Granted, it counts for nothing if the score stays the same, but there certainly reasons to be encouraged...

Still confident we can get something from this. Might encourage Robins to push us on more and earlier, which is a good thing. Even as it is we’re looking fairly threatening.

Another terrible terrible goal to give away. That is awful from Sheaf, way too ponderous. But it doesn’t mean he’s shit and everyone piles in now.

Kids both unexpectedly asleep at this time for the first time in forever = last minute decision to order the game. First game so far this season I’ll be able to watch in peace (hopefully I’ve not cursed that). Just got to find a nice beer from the fridge now.

Glad Giles is starting he’s one of the few attacking outlets we have, which is especially needed if we start defensive mode as we have recently. Confident we get something from this, and I hope we get ourselves out of first gear and cause them some issues. Even if we revert to sitting deep, as...

I’m a Robins fan, nowhere near the idiotic taxi brigade that’s desperate to pounce on every mistake. But everyone has weaknesses and substitutions are absolutely one of MR’s. Often too late and/or the wrong ones.

Glad Allen is playing well, always been a fan but felt he’s been underwhelming this year, so really pleased he’s turning it around. Always felt he’s one of of our strongest technical players. Also pleased Sheaf is being recognised more, he can be completely out of games (which is the...

    Recommend a beer

Got a keg of Framework Brewery Semper, a New England Pale Ale and one of North Riding Brewery, Mint Choc Chip Stout for today. Familar with both breweries, North Riding did a caramel type stout (can’t remember exact details) which was brilliant, so high hopes for this flavoured stout is as good!

Not looking forward to this as much as recent matches, although not exactly sure why! Sheaf and Hamer in the middle should mean we recycle the ball well and keep it moving as both are good on the ball, however we both to be on it for the whole game and not drift in and out. I would like to...
