They don't need to fake tests. It's 14 players available. I wouldn't be at all surprised if 1 of their currently available players picks up a "knock/minor injury" which combined with the Covid cases takes them below the 14 available threshold.

I don't think anyone is smug about anything. We've had an incredible start to the season & got into the top 3 on merit but you can't honestly have expected us to stay there given the quality of opposition in this league? If you did then you're going to be very disappointed. Yes performance...

Joelinton is actually a very good player, just been used horrendously & at a terrible club for him.

Conversely... Only 1 defeat in 6, despite a tough run of fixtures, means just winning 1 of our games in our hand would put us comfortably back in the Top 6.

I very much doubt that's the case at this level, hardly anyone at the club will even be contracted. Not to mention the current management team have an excellent record & are 3rd in the league with games in hand. I think simply credit where it's due to the club for the swift, decisive action...
