    The holiday 2023 thread

I like Brugge/Bruges as a city to go for three days or so, but can't see a Christmas market being any different to most cities, tbh.

    The holiday 2023 thread

Most towns in northern France have some sort of market with a few more actual market stalls to buy stuff than Birmingham, which is exclusively beer, gluhwein, sausages and pissed-up chavs. Arras is a lovely city and their christmas market is pretty good. Only an hour from Calais, so can be done...

    The Olympics

Just that they clearly don't have a clue what is going on, and trying to use the jargon makes them sound ridiculous

    The holiday 2023 thread

Zagreb is a fantastic city to spend a long weekend, but it's difficult to find flights from the UK, so it ain't cheap, sadly. EDIT - not able to comment on Christmas markets there

    The holiday 2023 thread

I think most people are aware of it just from being the airport for the resorts on the Costa del Sol which got a bad rep for boozed up Brits, but my ex-boss moved there so i know more about the city and sounds great.

    Death List 2024

TBF, it's his family who have reported him as having taken his own life, having had a number of significant attempts in recent years. Haunted by his demons, it would appear. Sad.

    The Olympics

I didn't realise Eurosport had it as well. Whatever happened to the Olympics always be on free-to-air TV??? I wonder if KJT would do better with a coach other than Denise Lewis??? The expert in the diving was Leon Taylor, who won a silver (in diving, coincidentally) at the 2004 Athens Olympics...

    The Olympics

Just visiting this thread after all is done and dusted. 65 medals just beat Tokyo, but i'm not sure that is much of a thing to boast about - i thought there was a clear-out and post mortem after that. I think some "teams" did really well, the rowing in particular, but for me there were too many...

    The Olympics

I think Kerr blew that. He knew he had beaten Ingebritsen and forgot about the others in the field. Great run and PB for Hocker though.

We'll have to agree to differ on that one, Daz.

    Things that annoy you

Agree entirely. It shouldn't be beyond the wit of packaging designers to make the film stronger than the glue!

Superb analogies! "Kick a lasagne round your garden"! Priceless!

    A Suggestion

Sorry, but it is precisely THIS sort of shitty school playground sniping in pretty much EVERY thread that needs to be blocked. Off Topic Chat is clearly marked as such, and it is a place for people with a common interest (i.e. City fans) to have a chat about anything and everything, like you...

    Match day prices

Oh OK - i haven't figured out when Easter is yet. But it doesn't really make much difference - it would be A no matter what day it was on, and rightly so.

    Gathering for Tommy / Discontent

Not just political ... "... the use or threat is made for the purpose of advancing a political, religious, racial or ideological cause" (s.1(1)c, Terrorism Act 2000)

This warms my heart. How do we start the fight back?

    Gathering for Tommy / Discontent

I had assumed that the torching of the Citizens Advice office next to the police station in Sunderland last week was because the rioters were stupid (easy mistake to make in Sunderland, i know) and missed their intended target. Mrs OSB works for CA in Oxon and Northants, and she believes it...
