Match Thread Portsmouth vs. Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 20th Aug

Parked at the Good Companion on my last couple of visits. No issues at all. Pretty much everyone who parked there was a city fan and very few Pompey fans in there.

Could be interesting in the pubs and train station today

Went last season and the time before (when we did score), how was it dangerous? I remember thinking that in the old days that terrace would have had far more people in it. If you want to stand somewhere a little more sedate you simply go to the wings. I'd argue that there's more chance of...

Could be interesting in the pubs and train station today

I have stood on terracing countless times over the years and haven't encountered any aggro. There are fans of clubs, those I mentioned and lots of others, where home fans still stand (Peterborough, Scunthorpe etc.) without issue every week. The issue about people wanting to stand behind the...

Why? Terraces still exist. We'll be standing on one in a few weeks at Burton. As we will at Wimbledon, Fleetwood, Accrington and Bristol Rovers. Terracing never went away, so I always find it odd when people object to the 'return' of terracing.

Could be interesting in the pubs and train station today

A bit much. It's a rights of passage thing to a large extent. It's all mostly harmless and if they play up just tell them to pipe down. Groups of lads in their late teens getting a bit excitable on a day at the football, worse things happen at sea. It's no different at any other club. Had to...

Yep, couldn't see the Baka header clearly, but that was a absolute sitter for Hiwula.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Bristol Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 17th Aug

One clear cut chance? We scored twice, hit the post, Godden had a good chance first half that the defender did really well to block, that header second half looked a decent chance, and we created a lot of good situations. Final ball was lacking at times, but overall I thought it was a dominant...

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Bristol Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 17th Aug

I thought it was flat first half, but plenty of noise towards the end of the game. Excellent performance that. We managed the game really well and played some lovely stuff at times.

    Parking advice

If you don't fancy street parking, there is the Church of God of Prophecy which is about 100 yards from the ground. It's a fiver, but you may need to arrive before the road closure.

    Try before you buy

Ah man, I've ditched Facebook, otherwise I'd be all over that thread firing out a few c bombs. That has wound me up more than it probably should have.

Match Thread Coventry City vs. Bristol Rovers Match Thread - Saturday 17th Aug

I think the collection point has changed, but it's not far from the reception and is easy to find. From the club update yesterday: Any collections and queries will now be dealt with at the Ticket Collection Booth – this will be open from 12:30pm on matchdays, and situated to the left of the...

A bit pessimistic on the gate. Bristol Rovers expecting to bring around 1500, so I think they'll be more than 3800 home fans.

    Pay on the gate

    No fee. It's a flat £20 online.

    Pay on the gate

They are separated by a small fence that runs between T20 and S22, and the gangway is gated. It's how they stop the Tilton and Kop Stand mixing. They might leave the gate open, but they were very strict at the other end where they have the same separation with the Kop Corner.

    Gender stereotypes in advertising

Offence is taken not given. It's your choice to be offended, and just because you're offended, it doesn't mean you're right. Identity politics and general woke hysteria, it's a first world problem and it's taking us backwards. People have been prosecuted for causing offence, it's insane. I love...

    Opposite end to away fans.

    Pay on the gate

I guess it's easier to manage that way, so it's understandable in one sense. One effect will be that the Kop Stand will be a good deal emptier than for the 1st game as it was filled up by people paying on the gate, and they'll now be separated. They're trying hard to recreate the Ricoh experience!

    Pay on the gate

I note from the club update today that those paying cash on the gate will now be housed in newly opened blocks 17, 18 and 19. Just a heads up for those intending to pay cash, you'll now be sat in the corner and you won't be able to gain access to the Kop Stand blocks, so if you want a side-on...
