That's fine when the defending team is out of position due to good attacking play (eg. when a cycnical foul stops a counter) but for situations like this it seems obvious to me that it is only fair to allow the team to get back in position.
LOTG allows him to do that, so the decision is correct.
Decision can only be wrong if it's not within the LOTG.
Could the referee have let them take it? Yes he would have been within his rights to. But no ref would let that happen.
Because most of the Leeds team were celebrating the goal that appeared to have stood.
Sometimes a bit of common sense is required; that's why the referee always has discretion.
