    council may lower rent?

Fair enough - £100Million then - actually I think Man City had to pay a load of money to convert the stadium when they took it over didn't they?

    council may lower rent?

The Portman Road rent is paid to the council for the LAND only - not the stadium - the club funded all that so it's totally different - Our stadium cost £113 Million - about the same as Man City's - rent probably isn't unreasonable on that basis -

Which they can't by normal operating and obviously won't commit to... stalemate

    council may lower rent?

Good point godiva on the stadium side - I am sure the council would block any attempt to have another ground built or added to to accomodate the club - the Interest rate on the loans for the stadium could be whole different world though as I expect they may not be simply linked to standard Int...

    council may lower rent?

In an ideal world yes - actually both of these options would work ok - trouble is the landlord has no influence over this at all and is at the mercy of the clubs management - can't see how this is remotely fair - it's not as if the ground is any better or worse depending on what league the clubs in

so where are we right now CCFC wise

Depends whether we think the rent is just too high anyway for a non-PL club - if it is then SISU should have sorted that out when they came in - else the club would have gone bust and the council and ACl left with no tenant OR are we saying it's too much now because the club can't afford it...

    council may lower rent?

Rent aside for a moment - would someone like to enlighten me on how the club is going to mange to run on a break-even basis going forward because I can't see how from where we are now??? Only things I can see happening are selling anyone we can to cover the losses short term and then that?

so where are we right now CCFC wise

It's not unfair .. it's reality - and what about the loses the charity have to take - how is that fair on them? The ongoing viability of the club is already a BIG concern - a rent reduction isn't going to save it - SISU made a mistake coming in when they did - they CANT make money out of this...

    council may lower rent?

Interesting read skybluegod - we're having a good old debate on this on another thread - key bit for me here is the lack of information on business strategy from SISU if that's correct

OK so let's reduce the rent to zero and everything will be rosy in the garden? Not if you've loosing £400k a month it isn't - the rent is not the problem here - the OWNERS have got to fund it - it's their company

    Tim Fisher's interview

and I thought I'd got my head round this!!! Lets just agree that as long as it's in double figure and has an 'M' after it it means it's a big scary number

so where are we right now CCFC wise

The compromise would be to defer a percentage of the rent for a period of time - in the same way some councils allow some businesses to defer a portion of their business council tax - it still has to be paid though in the future - that for me is the only sensible option for all concerned - the...

so where are we right now CCFC wise

I for one would certainly appreciate a rent reduction - my point is that to be fair to the owners of the stadium the agreement should be honoured - standard business practice - it's a difficult position to put the council in as their No1 obligation is to the citizens of Coventry - why should the...

so where are we right now CCFC wise

Just thinking the exact same thing Sub - seriously why should the rent be reduced? It's not the landlords fault the club made a mess of it - can't see how their costs are going to suddenly drop because we are in L1

    £1 million for Bigi

Look everyone - we've got to be talking in absolutes now - TODAY Bigi's worth a million - only because someone thinks he is - maybe he'll be worth a lot more in the future - maybe he won't - doesn't matter to us it's done - If you or I were desperate for money and someone offered you £10k now or...
