Being ready for the prem is a myth, you need to replace basically the entire team to have a chance anyway and you’re always better off getting the money
If EMC is fit he should start and Wright up top. Otherwise, Simms and Wright left.
We'll see how Sunderland want to play it. If they sit back then we should just focus on getting quality crosses in to the box, and you'd hope given our record that Wright, Simms or Rudoni will get on the end of one.
all we need is a 1-0 win and you want to start MVE, who dropped a clanger in the first leg, as a wide CB when he's never done it before?
trying anything too drastic from the off is a recipe for conceding early and giving ourselves a mountain to climb - if Sunderland do get the 1st goal that's...
I agree re the game plan but I’m not sure how we looked knackered? We looked fine energy wise, just struggled as BTA was not able to compete for crosses in the air and Wright had a stinker. Rudoni arriving late was our only threat.
Sheaf - obvious
Allen out of contract so makes sense
Binks and Bidwell will have takers
Simms & BTA - does both going mean we are looking at signing a new striker?
Collins - who on earth is taking him? L1 team for free I imagine?
Wouldn't say no to £3m+ for Eccles
Don’t know why people think we need to go radical and play a team/formation we haven’t used before.
Stick to the 433, probably bring Simms back in and see where we are after an hour. We only need to win by 1 to force ET/pens.
