    Callum O'Hare

And why would he come back when he wouldn't be a guaranteed starter?

    Callum O'Hare

Just to confirm, as I've been speaking about this on another thread, I don't hate O'Hare. I would just rather we spent that money on other areas where we need it more. And I'm not sure he'd come here to be a squad player anyway,

Match Thread Oxford Utd vs Coventry City Saturday 30th August 3pm KO

It's mine and Mrs WMs 10 year wedding anniversary today and we have a nice hotel booked tonight for a kid free night. C'mon Cov....3 points, top of the table and a great night with the wife...🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

    A) I know...so is all transfer talk on here...doesn't stop hundreds of pages of it! B) I'm not. But the preference needs to be a CB. Surely that's clear?

    Championship thread 25/26!

I've already said this before...we've got Sheaf, Allen, Eccles, Rapha and Andrews as back up in midfield. If Rudoni is injured, Sheaf or Eccles can play a deeper role and push Torp forward. I can't believe how many people would rather spend £2m on OHare than put it towards a CB... that's pretty...

    Championship thread 25/26!

I obviously didn’t say we don’t need to strengthen the bench. I can’t explain this any clearer. I personally think we’d be better spending £2m on a position where we need more cover, like CB or LB. And you talk about the risk of bringing ‘unknowns’. Literally every player we bring in as an...

    Championship thread 25/26!

I didn’t have a grudge with him when he left (my posting history will back this up). I just don’t see it as good business spending £2m on someone who we let go on a free 12 months ago when we could spend said £2m strengthening a poison where we actually need strengthening. Its less to do with...

Good question and not sure on that answer but I guess I'd rather us put £2m into a new CB, LB or ST when we've got relatively decent coverage in midfield.

    Championship thread 25/26!

I still think it would be a waste of £2m for a player to sit on the bench when said player would want to be starting. Not too dissimilar to KKH/MVE situation. Plenty have questioned paying £4m (or whatever it was) for someone to sit on the bench of MVE stays. - There's absolutely no way he gets...

So you're ok with this bit: We might have well said, 'Here, SUFC, you have O'Hare for 12 months and we'll give you £2m for the pleasure'. It would be a nonsense move to bring him back. Mental. Hamer, I would take back mind (although unrealistic).

Totally disagree my friend but that's ok ✌🏻

    Championship thread 25/26!

And my main point is that paying £2m for someone we had to let go on a free 12 months ago, isn't good business. I'm pretty sure DK would see it that way. We might have well said, 'Here, SUFC, you have O'Hare for 12 months and we'll give you £2m for the pleasure'. It would be a nonsense move...

    Championship thread 25/26!

Comparing him with Binks is irrelevant. I'd rather us spend £2m elsewhere or put it towards someone else. Midfield is an area where we have most depth...£2m on O'Hare would be a waste. He wouldn't get into our starting line up.

I hope this is a joke?! Pay £2m for someone who left us on a free and wouldn't get into our side now? No thanks. Loved him when he was here but that ship has sailed.

Did you know Coventry are embracing a Red Bull-style vertical intent?

Who's to say we'd be less direct against better teams?

Match Thread Oxford Utd vs Coventry City Saturday 30th August 3pm KO

Agreed. Stoke and Boro both at home to Sheff Utd and WBA respectively in early, lunchtime KOs so a couple of draws there and we could go into the game knowing 3 points would put us top going into the international break (albeit on GD).

Did you know Coventry are embracing a Red Bull-style vertical intent?

As interesting as it is, we're still only three games in and quality of opposition will have an effect. Had we played say, Stoke, Boro and WBA, we could conceivably be in the opposite quadrant. It would be interesting to see after 10 games when everyone will likely have played a cross section...
