    Steve Hunt

Saw him make his debut at the Baseball Ground. We won 2-0, he and Ian Wallace scored and we were in the chocolate brown kit. Ask me what I did a week ago and I would have no idea!

All really pertinent questions OSB but the most important one in my opinion has always been “why sell HR before we actually had somewhere to go to?” I fail to see how that decision was in the best interest of the company at the time but perhaps that wasn’t a key consideration?

    Max Biamou

I’m in the same boat as you have been waiting for the op for months. The pain some days is awful, so much so that I can’t walk for more than 10 mins so how Max is managing to play full games sometimes is beyond me.

    Scariest time at a ground.

That was around the time I started watching us regularly. I didn’t go as my mum wouldn’t let me as it was a school night. My mate’s dad and uncle went and recounted exactly the same as you.

    Scariest time at a ground.

And just to add, that’s what happened when we lost, god knows what it would have been like if we had won.

    Scariest time at a ground.

2 scary games for me. 1980 Watford away in LC QF. Out coach like many others delayed in traffic, got there 30 mins before KO the same time as a football special train. Must have been over a thousand fans crushed in a narrow passage way trying to access half a dozen turnstiles. As a 15 yo I was...

    The Goldstone Ground

Went twice. 1st time must have been early in the season (79?) as it was still warm (must have been their first season back in Div 1 for a while, Peter Ward was their star player. 2nd time was year after (perhaps) and it was cold and wet on that open terrace in the corner. I remember coppers...

I second that. Great quiz again Grendel which helped relieve some of the lockdown boredom. I too was doing lots of searches for wife stranglers, hope Mrs WSB understands. Congratulations to Razzle Dazzle, great sleuthing to get the GK answer.

    Festive fixture memories

You are right, it was 2 years later that he came on as a sub for them and I think we lost 2-0.

I was there that day too. Travelled up on my own. You are right Huckerby was on fire that day, he ran them ragged. Gary Mac took a load of abuse from the home support.

He was fantastic while he was with us, could never understand why we didn’t sign him.

    Festive fixture memories

Unfortunately I was there too that day. If I remember correctly the ref was giving Leicester everything and that’s why Gould was so annoyed. I also think Laurie Cunningham played for Leicester that day.

    Festive fixture memories

That’s right we played at Villa the day before drawing 1-1. Can you imagine the fuss that would be made nowadays about playing 2 games in 2 games, especially with smaller squads and only 1 sub?
