Match Thread Coventry v Sunderland Championship Playoff 1st Leg Friday 9th May

Big ask to get there, but most of our players have been there at least once recently. Loads been twice, play offs against Luton and Man U semi final. Barnsley boys in play offs with them. If we make it, think it will be Bidders fifth visit. Brentford, Swansea, twice with us so far?

    Injury Updates

Did anyone see that Thomas remained seated during Can't Get You Out Of My Head? when everyone else was up bouncing. Hope he was just knackered.

I just cant get you out of my head

Was reading about some old chants from us and Newcastle. "When the ball hits the net is it Torp or Bassette or Rudoni" "Rudoni, superstar how many goals have you scored so far". From Jesus Christ Superstar. Despite my avatar, I am not a Christian.

We would have been better off with Robins

Loved Mark Robins, still do. Think without Adi he was less good. Mark and Adi did it over several seasons. Lampard brilliant so far.

365 beaches, one for each day of the year. Love Runaway beach where friends used to run the diving school. There used to be several beaches where the bars ran happy hours sequentially. All the piss heads used to meander from one beach to the next for the cheap booze. Hilarious the later it got.

    Relegated players

Think they are loans at the moment. Was Bundu on loan from Leeds?

    Doug King

Hands up. one of his biggest critics. See also Lampard as a vanity appointment. Even if we do not get past Sunderland, the turn around has been remarkable, especially our home form. Humble pie may be on the menu. So far so far so good.

    Schadenfreude

Perhaps its age, but all my hatred of Villa, Sunderland and Leicester was just banter and not real. But, I am really happy Plymouth and Luton went down. There was something about their triumphalism when they beat us that really pissed me off. Add Birmingham and Wrexham. Lets hope we are not...

    Clive Eakin on CWR

I hope this was his decision to leave which is how it has been presented. If you ever listen to opposition presenters, you suddenly realise what an outstanding, knowledgeable football person Clive is, even if he does support Tranmere. I always thought he was a bit annoying with his "fairness"...

    Live Scores on Scoreboard?

We always seem to be singled out for special punishment (see Godden dive). Pretty sure they will find a rule to punish us with if we did show the scores. Where's Jimmy Hill when you need him?

    Championship thread 24/25!

Look at Stoke for a club with owners with money to burn. How has that worked out? For success you need a good manager, coaching staff and a quality recruitment team. Wrexham and Brum have the money. I have no idea if they have the other important staff.

    Hamer - Championship PotS

The thing with Hamer when he played for us in his last season the opposition could not get near him. He seemed to have all the time in the world that is a sign of a top player. This was repeated when he played both games against us this season. His touch is great, his vision and passing...

Wrexham are punching above their weight due to rich owners. Their size will catch up with them eventually, although not for sometime unfortunately. Brum are slightly different as they have a massive catchment. I would put Brum behind us and West Brom at the moment but their money may tip the...

    Who would you sell?

I would be surprised if any of our players achieved £15 million. Those three are core players, I would hope we can keep. Every player has a price, and we will sell anyone if that price is offered. Throw in players having their head turned by the opportunity to play at a higher level and increase...

    Who would you sell?

It is not apathy, it is injuries and tiredness. Throw in a few dodgy ref decisions and Collin's mistakes and we are where we are. No player is not busting a gut to get to the playoffs. There are big financial rewards for all our players to get to the playoffs, bigger to get to Wembley and...
