Leeds won't bust a gut they can just cruise this one out in second gear.

True but you would hope a few of our players would show some quality, some desire to advance their careers to that level. Not just shit yer pants.

This is where our lack of any real quality is very obvious.

[POLL] Do you start Grimes tonight?

Putting someone in the starting 11, largely unfamiliar with other players, never played for us before, against Leeds is supposed to improve us immediately? Not at all sure about that. A couple of weeks and a couple of sub performances seems the sensible way forward. Especially given our recent...

    Preferred Team and System

Anyone with two eyes and brain knows Sheaf has played poorly this season. Slow, lacking aggression, poor at defensive cover, negative. Exactly what we don't need right now. We've undoubtedly been better off without him. Saying he has been carrying an injury, with no evidence, or he needs...

It would be a real shame to lose the potential EMC has shown recently. We don't want him to lose that mindset he clicked in to. I think Wright will need a slow rentroduction so hopefully EMC gets another good chance.

    Leeds tickets

Grimes needs a couple of weeks to get used to the squad and acclimatise. Maybe play him last 20 mins or so if we need to do something. But don't rush to change a winning team.

    Preferred Team and System

You would be mad to change this winning team much. Grimes after a week or two, ok. Putting Sheaf in there as well. Absolutely not. It would slow us down massively and take out some of the aggression we've been showing.

    Transfer Rumour Matt Grimes

Some bloke on the tinternet saying 'they look like a talented group to me' isn't really much evidence is it? We've played poorly for the vast majority of the year. Lampard seems to have done things Robins couldn't, like playing more aggressively more as a team. Partly due to playing the likes...

    Transfer Rumour Matt Grimes

If the 'signings have been excellent' why have we been struggling at the wrong end of the table all year and had to sack a manager? A few wins and people lose their minds.

What stats are those? The ones that are masses of 5 yards backwards and sideways passes? He's only played about half the games for a start!

    Transfer Rumour Matt Grimes

If he's off there's little point playing him anyway. But generally he doesn't help the team's best style of play which is higher tempo and quickly using wide players. He also doesn't help protect the somewhat shaky defence enough.

    Transfer Rumour Matt Grimes

He really isn't 'an incredible talent at this level'. He has a certain poise which impresses some but actually his output is bang average. At this point he'd be lucky to get in our pretty average midfield.

Sheaf ain't it. He's had plenty of game time this season and we're clearly better without him.

I just hope he can bring a bit more than Sheaf. Play at a higher tempo, be a bit quicker, thread more forward passes, tackle a bit harder, cover the defence a bit better. If he's a Sheaf MK2 I'll be a bit disappointed. But absolutely we need more quality, experience and a calm head central...

Sell Sheaf and get in someone with solid experience who can play an aggressive higher tempo game. Id keep the others.

Match Thread Blackburn Rovers - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 21st Jan

Sheaf just slows us down significantly. Holding the ball and passing it 10 yards sideways or backwards doesn't give us much. Last night we quickly got it wide and used the route 1 option rather than a snail like pointless build up that lets the opposition get organised. Sheaf also lacks pace...

I wouldn't put Sheaf back in. Too slow and poor at tackling. Just drags our tempo down. We are so much better playing quicker.
