Match Thread Sunderland - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 9th Nov

Seems unlikely that Sheaf has downed tools completely, to be honest. It’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say afterwards…time to read between the lines, somewhat, I imagine. As for the team, uh, I can’t work out the formation, so that’s a good start.

Noise from the players is deafening

    Was it complimentary?

    What is wrong with people?

Oh, right. Well I am actually a TV fan, for a lot of reasons. So anyone can start on me, I’ve got broad shoulders. lol

    What is wrong with people?

I’m lost on the context of this, sorry. lol I meant that the outpouring of ‘OTT’ reactions to the sacking won’t last.

    What is wrong with people?

Like I said, we’re all built differently, however I agree that there’s a line of decency to not cross. I’ve been close a few times. The club and the staff need our support, that much is true, despite how we feel towards certain individuals.

    What is wrong with people?

That’s not what I’m referring to, and to be honest, who are we to judge if reactions are ‘OTT’ or for attention? Some people are genuinely devastated over the sacking of MR, it’s perfectly permissible for them to be. It won’t last.

    What is wrong with people?

Some people aren’t as strong as that, and for some men, football is all they have. Literally. Some probably associate Robins with stability and success, a restorer of the breach. Me personally, I was fuming and pissed off for a day or so, but logic has prevailed. We’re not all built the same...

    What is wrong with people?

So basically, anyone who has a different emotional reaction to an event or situation to you, is instantly worthy of scorn? Very myopic, if you ask me, but there we are.

    What is wrong with people?

I think you inadvertently proved the point that you quoted. 👍🏻 Is that urge to two foot crap players escalating at all? 🤣

    Your Top 3 MR Moments

    1) League two playoff campaign. It was indescribable. 2) League one promotion - it was extremely satisfying. 3) Championship playoff run - I think we were all believing after the second leg at the Riverside. Two promotions, a trophy, two playoff finals, finishing 5th in the Championship with...

Their midfield average age, is 22 or around that mark. Neil, Rigg and Browne are their 3 CM’s I think, this is what the Sunderland fan said.

I think it’s Perry, isn’t it? I’m not overly familiar with the positions of the youth team players, to be honest. Andrews, Dausch, Perry, Yearn…we let Stretton go despite how often he’d score, Rus was on the fringes of the first team then left, Howley and Burroughs will probably go the same...

Couldn’t agree more. Failing to get either him or Stamenic is proving to be a massive failure.

They have a decent mix, to be fair. The experience they have compliments the younger lads. Even then, we’re talking players who are 27, like Roberts and Mepham, and O’Nien and Browne who are 29. Can’t beat that balance of both, yet they have a lot of young talent there, apparently.

    What is wrong with people?

The majority of fans on this forum were emotionally affected by the sacking of Robins. Which is entirely understandable, given the journey we’ve been on with him, and how desperately we wanted him to finish the job and reach the PL. Anyone who wasn’t affected emotionally by the sacking, I would...

Match Thread Sunderland - Coventry City Match Thread - Saturday 9th Nov

Probably not, but they have a young team and they’re doing well. The average age of their midfield is 22, or something? Chris Rigg has literally just turned 17, and has more balls and drive than Sheaf, that’s for sure. I spoke to a Sunderland fan about this, he appeared on a podcast, and he...

Right who's the next manager then?

Fair enough, I just don’t believe he will reach that ceiling here, in our club’s climate.
