    MAF, looking for the positives.

I hope that Fortune plays really well and that our fans are supportive of him. Clearly to date he has not applied his trying ground attributes on match days.

    Season over

The fans who are now greatly dwindling in their numbers are not to blame. Crowds of 18000 were being achieved in the first half of the season. They were supporting great attacking purposeful football, and now they are not. Something has changed at our club that had drained the early season...

    Rochdale (H) match thread

The last 2 performances have been sub-standard. i know that our poor run of form is more sustained that that, but not all of our losses or draws were bad performances. I don't generally travel to away games and so I rely on the views of those that do to form a general opinion. I do, however...

    Frank Bruno

Unfortunately, Harry Carpenter is dead. Otherwise he'd have knocked some sense in to big Frank. Very unlikely that any boxing board of control in any nation would permit Frank to box again legally.

The gap widens or closes today...

Agreed, there are still one and a half hours left in this day to consume several more pints of Sam Adams. By far the best beer in the U.S.A. i do agree that we probably need to win tomorrow, but I witnessed a very determined Southend earning their pong by right at the Ricoh, so it certainly...

I used to love Micky quin

I'm with Matesx on this. Sumo never failed to try and keep our sorry exiled plight in the spotlight on his show. I've never heard him say anything derogatory about us as a club, in fact his view is quite the opposite. He loved playing for us and he loved the fans.

    Maddison

Pochettino seems very keen to secure his signing, with a season loan Back clause. other top English Premier League clubs also want to sign him.

    Burton Albion (Home) Match Thread

On more than one occasion this season Murphy has been ineffective in the first half, but has grown into the game. Persevere with him for the first 20 minutes of the second half.

    Armstrong

I've been fortunate to meet with his dad on a few occasions. Adam likes it here and has made good friends. The omens are good that he will continue to play for us beyond his existing loan period.

    Walsall (Home) Match Thread

I couldn't make the game so I can't vouch for Walsall's display but Southend played better football and were more of a threat to us than any other side that I've seen at The Ricoh this season. Further, Reda was made to look very ordinary by Noel Hunt that night. Southend deserved their draw.

It is disappointing but if we can nick a win against Burton then all is well. We didn't lose and remain in with a shout of automatic promotion. At the very least we should finish in the top six of a division in over 4 decades.

This really is a very important 45 minutes. Continued upward momentum can be sustained starting with a victory today. I will take a win here and at least a point against Burton.
