I think people understand that. Various posters from across Europe have been talking about their experiences and saying you can go out for food, certain jobs still need doing etc..

It's comparable bar a few crazy days they had. If you discount those first couple of weeks where we seemed to have a lid on it the mean is the same.

If you then offset our data by 15 days we are on exactly the same curve as Italy, presumably why the government are so keen to increase mitigation measures now to slow it...

The problem is they think it’s misleading because it would look totally different on a linear scale (which is acknowledged in the tweet thread) but seemingly don’t understand that what it’s really showing is the gradient of an exponential function in way that doesn’t involve having to explain...

I guess it’s like all approaches and what I said about the original government plan. Might be the best on paper but doesn’t mean it will survive contact with reality. If you can get clear messaging out there and manage expectations there’s at least a chance people can be adults about it...
