Ability aside the presence and confidence of a keeper can have a huge impact on the team as a whole. Collins looks petrified and ponderous. Only able to perform in the split second no thought scenario. Wilson looks confident and in control. It makes a difference

King as owner would be negligent if he allowed Lampard to sign keeper number 4. This is not about ability. It’s about the economics of it.

Wilson is fine as a number 2 keeper. And that’s who plays when your first choice keeper is injured. The alchemy Lampard needs to pull off is offloading Collins.

In what crazy world would a team be expected to have 4 keepers. If we don’t offload Wilson or Collins one of them starts the season. Because the alternative is that a few short months later we have four “first choice” keepers on the books and that would be madness.

That stance makes perfect sense and to be honest it’s where the vast majority of clubs are.

Kitching and Thomas start for me. I’d desperately try to offload Binks and Lati. Get cover for the starters with the proceeds and also have Bidwell up our sleeve as a last resort.
