Need to get Eccles off corners. Not been at his best today and the corners haven't helped.

Some really encouraging play from Wright. Couple of powerful runs so far, showing pace and skill. Definitely a player in there and someone who looks in the Vik mould in terms of direct running.

For those not watching, Godden hit it hard but at a good height for the keeper to his right. Keeper got a strong hand to it and Palmer had a decent chance from the rebound but didn't threaten. Haven't seen a conclusive replay to show it was a clear penalty. Great play from DaSilva in the build-up.

Lovely first touch to escape a Watford player and burst of speed down the right from Van Ewijk. He's come on so much since Leicester already - could be a heck of a signing. Looks a proper talent.

Also made a few last-ditch blocks including a crucial one just then.

Ayari looks excellent - Wright should have scored from the through-ball a couple of minutes ago; too easy for the keeper.

I thought he was booked first half so was celebrating a second yellow, only to find out the first-half booking was Ekwah.

He had to shoot from there.

Goal-saving challenge from Latibeaudiere there as Bellingham was free in the middle. He's been very tidy today.

Palmer is all over Hume. Looks much more of a force now he's fitter. Not got anywhere near the two defenders on yellows, though.

Enjoyed that half. Dominated possession without many real chances - the one save coming from a Simms shot near the end of the first half. We look good out wide with both wing-backs looking to get forward. Everyone playing their part. Sunderland have two defenders on yellows, O'Nien and Cirkin...

Both wing-backs are heavily involved and both are a threat going forward. MVE settling in well and DaSilva has got behind his man a couple of times. Encouraging signs. Eccles has stood out.

Palmer has had a brilliant five minutes. Couple of lovely balls including one over the top there just too long for Godden. Some good exchanges down the left with DaSilva. Decent game, City on top, atmosphere seems good.

McFadz has started superbly.

I had a chat with a group of staff from Everton earlier this summer, just after we’d signed Simms. They said he’s a great young lad who probably doesn’t realise how good he is. They tipped him to thrive if Robins could instil that belief in him and lift his game as he’s done with many players...

Looked like it went in off his shoulder despite being in acres and having loads of time. Only saw it once, though, so could be wrong.
