Ban on eBikes and eScooters in Town

We have three e-bikes and two e-scooters. All are limited, per the law, to 15.5mph, and are only used on the road or bike lanes (overseas in the case of the e-scoots, which live in the back of the motorhome). I could very easily de-limit all of them, but quite frankly, that's fast enough for me...

    Things that annoy you

I had my 'flu one last Tuesday and have had a headache ever since. I have my Covid next Friday, and a shingles one a week later. I'm going to be like a pin-cushion...

Yes, I went there once. It was just a nuclear power station.

Cologne? Yes. Have used the station a few times. Have also eaten/drank lots of Kölsch in a restaurant on the square in front of the cathedral. Also got hideously drunk in an 'Irish' bar in the centre when the Americans (Ford types) we were with insisted on buying several bottles of J. Walker...

    Country Pubs

Going to Hercules Revived at Sutton Cheney for lunch tomorrow (my daughter treating us). She loves it, but I've never been. Hercules Revived, English Country Coaching Inn, Sutton Cheney, Leicestershire

Cologne is nice - have spent quite a lot of time there on business (back in the nineties) staying in the big hotel just over the Hohenzollerbrucke from the Dom (cathedral). However, I'd prefer Koblenz personally. A bit further, but lovely, and at the confluence of the Rhine and the Mosel.

Things that most Supermarkets no longer stock

Ooh, I loved Horlicks tabs. My mate's dad was, back in the seventies, the Midland Area Sales Manager for Beecham's Foods. His huge garage was always full of Quosh, PLJ (his car reg was PLJ3), Hunt's drinks, various tinned foods, and Horlicks tabs by the box. We once virtually lived on them on a...

The View is pretty decent. It's an ex Coastguard lookout iirc, and one of the very few places that make that cesspit bearable. The North Sea Observatory cafe at Chapel Point is another.

    Cov Rugby 2023 - 2024

Cov remain unbeaten this season with a solid bonus point win at Hartpury - a ground they often seem to struggle at. Finishing at a 19-35 scoreline, with five tries, they'll be disappointed not to have turned pressure into points with at least three tries going begging (adjudged forward...

    Career Change

I went from being a time-served machinist on the shop floor, to being a Technical Author after seeing an ad on the notice board there for a Trainee. Same company; completely different discipline. Never looked back, and retired as an Editor. Best move I ever made.

We ran out of Colman's in the moho last week, so bought this in France (Alsace). Yeah, I know, it's German style, but pretty decent. Oddly the company address is on Mahatma-Ghandi Strasse, Darmstadt. Is that the German equivalent of Del-boy's Nelson Mandela House?

    Cov Rugby 2023 - 2024

A good number of Prem appearances among both Sarries and Quins' sides, but not very close to full strength. However, it's a measure that many Quins fans were predicting they'd clatter Cov, but really struggled until the last quarter. Cov are a decent side right now (missing possibly their most...

    The holiday 2023 thread

I have a house in Tallinn. Well, I would have if the godforsaken bastard soviet authorities hadn't forced my father to sign it over either to them or a family member still living in Estonia. Sadly, the house my grandfather built now belongs to my late father's cousin, who is a bit of a nutcase...
