I have defended Doug King on some of the tough decisions that needed to be made but I think he and the board have got this wrong.
it’s short term thinking and can only be sustained if the club get promoted.
There is always a risk in playing top class opposition in pre season … results like this can easily happen.
the upside is that no one at the club will be under any false illusion that we don’t need to strengthen this window.
Robin’s isn’t great with young players. Added to that a poor start to the season and the combination meant that Mark was always likely to
favour proven players to potential.
We had no choice but to sell him and we will never know whether we miss out on targets to replace him or not.
It’s also clear from Robins comments that Hamer played the edges. The club clearly thought they had a chance to keep him but he jumped at the first opportunity that came along.
