    Things that make you happy

Pet insurance is a bastard scam in so many cases.

If you fancy a small detour via Burbage, I can highly recommend Vinyl Shakedown Records. Superb selection, all properly graded, and owner is a really nice guy too. They also have a small area in the back of Fodder & Chisit off Castle Street, Hinckley (highly recommend F&C too as an aside. Great...

Just to say that our last old fella had a similar issue with a hidden nut which had to be removed surgically. Suffice to say he made it to very nearly seventeen and had a wonderful life. On the other subject, we had a DNA test done on our current mutt (25kg hound-type) to see what she was all...

    Death List 2025

Great author (have read virtually all of his but not for many years, although I have a couple on my Kindle which will complete the catalogue). Despised his politics, but notwithstanding that, rest easy sir.

Christ, no. With my eyes? I never drive in the dark. Perhaps that's it though. My eyesight is so shitty perhaps I didn't see all the cars parked there? 😉

Really. I use that quite a lot, and never once had an issue. Not 'avin' it 😉

The A5 between Hinckley and Treacletown. Surely the most fucked up stretch of trunk road in the country. I can drive sixty miles along it from north Wales direction with nary a hold up, but can guarantee that the last few miles to home just off the A5 will be a stop-start mess (and that's if a...

True. For me it will always be Gibbo. The best £57500 the club will ever spend.

Chapel St Leonards, or maybe Anderby Creek? Edit - or Sutton on Sea (don't know how I forgot that. We used to go there regularly when we lived in Chapel).

    The Holiday 2025 thread

We last went for our daughter's wedding ten years ago. A friend of ours just got back from a week there at the dog rescue centre (Paws for Homes Foundation on Facebook) where our dog came from. She flew back with ten dogs for UK fostering and re-homing, stinking of dogshit after cleaning up...

Not much south of there until you get to Norfolk. Northwards - Mablethorpe and Cleethorpes are just as bad.

We returned from a combined tour of Rhodes and (a little bit of) Turkey (or Türkiye) a couple of weeks ago. We'd done Rhodes before and enjoyed it (our Silver Wedding Anniversary), but never Turkey. Loved it! It's such a vast country so three days is but a scratch. Waking up to seeing hot air...

Definitely spend a bit of time in Carcassonne if you can. First thing you'll see is the Hotel Bristol, but it gets much better 😉. The 'new' city is lovely, but the old citadel is something else again (but can be very busy/touristy)..

Fair do's. I kinda grew up with Gibbo (using the same 21 bus as him many times too) and always rated him as the finest ball playing dynamo the club ever had (when sober). However, as you say, Hutch was outstanding too. We can see both sides, I'm sure 😉

Not that old if you don't remember Ian Gibson being better than Hutch.
