    "Underlying numbers"

100% - we’ve conceded the first goal in 11 of our 17 games this season. Given the generic statistic of the first scoring team is most likely to win, it’s no surprise we are where we are in the league. To compound everything, in 9 games this season we’ve conceded 2 or more goals. It’s embarrassing.

Add tonight’s game to the list. Two avoidable goals and we’ve lost 2-0.

Match Thread Burnley FC - Coventry City Match Thread - Tuesday 26th November 19.45 ko

A stat my flatmate told me is that he’s not missed an open play goal since his last home game in September which is about 5-6 home games. Scott Parker will probably be good enough to get them up but isn’t good enough to keep them up imo.

First game I’ve missed this season and it’s been an interesting perspective watching it on TV as opposed to being at the game. We look good and could see us nicking this! Bragging rights are at stake here as I’m watching the game with my Burnley supporting flatmate!

    CCFC announcement today

Cardiff have been looking for a new manager since September. Makes our 3 weeks of looking for a manager seem like nothing. These things don’t just happen overnight. By all accounts we didn’t even begin the process of hiring a manager until after King’s conference so that process has actually...

    "Underlying numbers"

It’s a concern if we’re conceding a lot more goals than our xGA suggests because it almost confirms the eye test that we concede many soft goals. Which will be down to a combination of individual errors (Rudoni v Derby) or positional/tactical errors such as Sheff U’s 1st goal at the weekend...

    Frank Lampard Rumours

It is nonsense. These things don’t just happen overnight. The new manager will want to get things in place before starting too. 3 weeks to interview candidates and negotiate is not a long time. To use Ten Haag as an example again, it’s almost definitely the case that Man U were in talks with...

    CCFC announcement today

There’s a weird duality of people being angry that we sack MR and angry we didn’t go behind his back to talk to potential replacements. Looking at how Erik Ten Haag was treated in the summer where Man U were openly talking to potential replacements was undignified and unprofessional. They knew...

    Gary Rowett

Ending up Rowett or Eustace would be a step backwards. I’d genuine prefer to go back crawling to Robins. Even if it meant Doug King had to do public penance in the city centre.

    Frank Lampard Rumours

I’m sure King said the new manager will be able to bring in their own people at the conference. If Lampard wants an assistant and another it’s not to difficult to see why there might be a speed bump to getting the deal done.

    John Eustace

He’s probably passing on what his ‘source’ said and his source may not have specified what he meant by saying Eustace interviewed for the job. As I said, the difference between the club talking to him directly or indirectly via representatives is the same thing. When a club approaches a...

    John Eustace

I imagine the source could have said something like ‘the club have spoken to Eustace’. What that means specifically isn’t exactly clear. On one hand, it could mean Eustace came in for an interview. On the other, it could mean the club have spoken to his representatives through informal channels...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

There isn’t really anything redeemable about this government. Only the public sector workers will be happy so far. Even so, those pay rises won’t go far if inflation creeps back up and farmer’s strikes cause increases in food prices and/or shortages. They were elected without any real guiding...

    Josh Eccles

100% - as well as Sheaf and Eccles have been playing over the last 12 months, they haven’t filled that Hamer shaped void in our midfield. Eccles deserves a lot of credit because his last two assists (Thomas v Boro and Bassette on Saturday) were fantastic crosses. He really thrives in that...

Do you want to discuss boring politics?

It was repealed on 2022 which is why we had a guessing game of when Sunak would call an election. Apart from the Government being unpopular, there isn’t really a case for an election. I could definitely see Labour calling an early election for a renewed mandate after 2-3 years because we’ve...

    Steve Cooper?

Exactly my line of thinking. At this point, I'd rather just go out and get Lampard and if he does shit, a bunch of other Prem/Champ managers will be available to take stock then. If Cooper didn't want the job and Lampard felt jilted, then who do we go for!? The 'anyone but Lampard' brigade...

    The Club Shop

They did it with the England 1990 remake which sold very well. The hoodie looks nice but I'm not so hot on the blackout 87/88 kit remake though. I'm eying the Umbro remakes and Pony home remake for Xmas, the blackout range isn't on the Xmas list just yet.

    Steve Cooper?

At this point, unless Cooper absolutely wants the job, there isn't much good in approaching him. Assuming we are in 'advanced talks' with Lampard, if we mess him about to talk to a manager who may not want the job and end up getting neither, we'll look like right idiots.
