That’s why you deal with what’s in front of you rather than looking at historic averages. It was pretty clear in 22/23 that the points table was going to be lower than usual. This season, WBA will sacrifice consistency under Mowbray (versus Corberan) and Balckburn are on a downward trajectory...

It’s more or less a level playing field now and with key players returning, I don’t think this is a flash in the pan for us. There’s every reason to be optimistic that we’ll go from strength to strength and finish 5th or 6th.

Well, his views on Lampard aren’t exactly a secret and this run of form was destroyed that worldview. The meltdown post-Norwich summed it up.

Sorry Otis, that is such a dumb outlook! 😂

Simms played well yesterday, he got in behind the defence and put in a couple of good balls in the box. Unfortunately, no one was following up in the box which is what you’d expect if we had EMC, Wright and Rudoni playing as an AM.

Agreed, the end point will be 4-3-3 / 4-2-3-1 for the things you outline. 5-3-2 is the way to go for the next game, imo. BTA was probably rested because he’d have played 3 games in 6 days. EMC will be an ace from the bench for the next 2-3 weeks as he gets his match fitness back up. I don’t...

He’s finally unearthing the huge potential in the team. Now we’ve had a good run, the expectation will now be to make the playoffs, especially now we don’t have to worry about the FA Cup as we did last season.

This only my opinion, Sheaf below par form was down to his injury and, frankly, the poor tactical setup that was responsible for multiple players underperforming.

    Next 5 are important

The next 6 are all winnable games imo. For the most difficult games, we have home advantage. If we beat PNE at home I will certainly believe that a date is on our side. Sheffield Wednesday is a big litmus test because Hillsborough is a tough place to go.

Whilst Sheaf is a Coventry City player, he will be a starter. As it happens, Grimes and Sheaf will complement one another. Sheaf is better defensively and Grimes has a better range of passing. It’ll almost like getting the band back together (Sheaf + Hamer).

Yep, agreed and imo, this because our passing lanes were too lateral. We were back in the habit of passing side-to-side without penetrating a defensive shape. The 4-2-3-1 shape liberated about 2-3 players on the pitch when that tactical change was made.

It’s more the shape in the first half. Having one striker and only 2 CMs to cover the distance in the middle third was imbalanced. It was probably a mistake to drop BTA. Our passing lines were lateral before we took Kitching off and Simms/BTA were isolated until EMC was on the wing. Rudoni...

Saka was RW all game to be fair, he sometimes struggles to impact games which was the case for most of the game. EMC was a lot more threatening and impactful in his cameo. Sakamoto two best attributes in my view is his positioning and precision. He has that special quality of ending up at the...

Overall, it was an even game that could’ve went either way and we got out rub of the green! The only good corner we put in the box in the second half led to a goal and it was good to see we had routines that asked questions of their set piece defending in the first half. In the first half, the...

He was a good captain at Barnsley which made it all the more strange that he couldn’t get a look in under MR and Carr this season. Particularly when it seemed obvious to all we missed leadership qualities at the back. From Day 1, our most reliable CBs were always Thomas and Kitching.

Had we played a full strength team, yes. Their weakened team had the leagues top scorer in it, a former England POTY, the top Championship GK (Palmer) and two wingers who scored 27 goals in our league last year. In fact, just in their starting front 4, there were 61 Championship goals between...

Agree with this sentiment. Just because someone disagrees with you, it’s not damaging. I don’t think it’ll stop participation and/or support of the women’s game. There’s plenty of people who enjoy the more family-friendly nature of women’s football and it has a niche in the market. On a...
