It’s a bit harsh. Iirc, the last time we could’ve signed him was the 22/23 season… we were a mess that year and had to sell a top player just to relay the pitch. At the end of the day, professionals have to consider their career first before the sentiments of who they support.

His role is going to be bit part. Assuming we play with wingers in the coming weeks, you’re going to want to switch personnel you’d have EMC, Wright, Sakamoto and Peterson for 4 places and bearing in mind two of those are coming back from injuries, we need to change wingers after 60-70 minutes.

    Jack Rudoni

Off the ball in what respect? Rudoni outperforms COH in the defensive parts of the game with the exception of COH being slightly ahead in tackles made by a few percentiles. COH was really good off the ball before his ACL but he felt a bit less aggressive and high energy post-injury. This...

    Oxford Away March 1st Tickets

That’s disgraceful. I work with a bluenose and they have an odd system where STHs can lose their ST seats if they miss a cup game. You won’t find me complaining, the points system is the fairest way of doing things that’s administratively efficient. In an ideal world, you’d have a ballot...

    Oxford Away March 1st Tickets

The only away game I’ve missed this season is Burnley away and had I gone, I’d have been in the 1400 bracket! Looking I may have to try and get a ticket in the home end or get lucky with people dropping out in my wider network!

Lampard did say he didn’t land on 5-3-2 to make us better defensively, it was more of an assessment on the personnel at the club. We end most games playing 5-4-1 / 3-4-3 so it’s a natural progression to put Rudoni as a roaming AM / CM and play with two wingers. With Haji and EMC coming back...

    Doug got it right

I think he did, we sacked him after 2 impressive wins v Luton and Boro. He stood up at the fans forum and made his case and imo, got more people open to the idea that sacking a legend was the right decision and also dispelled a lot of toxic conspiracy theories surrounding the last few months...

    Doug got it right

Carr’s 3 games were against Sheff U, Burnley and Sunderland though to be fair. Judging on our form under Lampard, had he came in a few weeks before the Xmas period, we could’ve been in a better position. The contact time with the players from mid December to new year would’ve been limited and...

I don’t think they have complained had they scored from that attack. Every game there’s some sort of applause for someone who’s unfortunately passed away. Expecting to stop the game deliberately and applause for this kind of stuff is a bit silly.

Some key details omitted there. The fall out with AV was the beginning because King felt Robins could get ‘exposed’ as a manager without top coaches around him. The coaching staff not being up to scratch and the results turning made his position untenable. What’s been bullshit exactly...

    Doug got it right

The results is the bottom line, the cracks began in King’s mind when Robins unilaterally broke up a successful partnership. Which is probably fair given what happened. I’m not sure why people thinks he talks bullshit, everything he’s said he’s going to do, he’s done. I’m sceptical about the...

    Doug got it right

It’s a good thing King was unburdened by the sentiment. The 30-odd game stretch heading up to Robins being sacked was not good enough and any other manager would’ve been sacked sooner. A lot of the fanbase was willing to blame anyone and everything other than Robins. Robins is, and will always...

    Ellis simms

He only really got a run of games after Norwich away so it’s a false proposition. He’s a good striker and scores goals playing as a lone striker or in a formation with 2 strikers, it’s not a black and white situation.

Did last season not happen? Scored 19 goals playing as a lone striker. He is an effective striker when he gets consistent game time.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

The point has been missed entirely. If you had two teams with equal xG and one team had 22 shots and the other has 8… who do you think created the better chances? What were Wednesday’s big chances? They hit the bar and forced a few decent saves from Dovin.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

No, there’s game state to take into account which adds context to xG. Our chances were better chances than Wednesday’s whichever way you look at it and after their equaliser, we created the two best chances of the half.

Exactly… Their keeper also kept out Sakamoto’s header that was a good opportunity also. Sheffield Wednesday had 11 shots with 0.77 xG which leads into the argument that they didn’t really trouble us that much. We were a lot more efficient than they were.

Are we going to "shit" our way up!?

I rewatched the highlights and just from that snippet you’d think we were on top. 1.56 xG divided by 22 amounts to 0.07 per shot which is not great, frankly. Compare that to our 1.51 xG which was 0.19 per shot which is considered a ‘good chance’. We went 1-0 up after 16 minutes and you could...

The xG was basically even which shows that they had a lot of shots but didn’t really create big chances. It was a typical away day performance where we conceded lots of chances and relied on hitting them on the counter. Both second half goals relied on a dose of good fortune.
