Thorn: Players believe they will bounce back

If there was to be a bid (who knows with paper talk), I guess it's much more likely to be based on his appearances for the youth team.

Thorn: Players believe they will bounce back

So just to be clear - you're advocating that when interviewed (which we both agree he has little choice in agreeing to), he should "spout some bollocks" and that this will make things better!! Personally I think that most of these "page filler" interviews are already full of "bollocks" and I...

Thorn: Players believe they will bounce back

Bit confused...... You said "wish he'd say nothing" I said " don't think he can really say nothing" You said " of course he could, he could say .........." Did they change the meaning of nothing when I wasn't looking?

    Another one lost

However manager Andy Thorn pointed out the first team experience being gained by his 14 and 15 year old players would stand them in good stead for the future........

Thorn: Players believe they will bounce back

I don't think managers really have the option of saying nothing. I doubt he rang up the paper last night and demanded to have his insightful comments published - I'm guessing that they contacted him. Lots of media outlets with lots of space to fill leads to lots of inane comments!!

    Transfer Embargo being lifted...

Not sure how else you can read it. The new price lasts until 30/6. It has been put in place to allow people to make a decision on whether to buy their ticket after the embargo has been lifted. If the embargo is not lifted by 30/6 (actually, sufficiently earlier than this to allow incoming...

VULTURES IN THE AIR - Jordan Willis Target

I can see where you're coming from. However post match comments - do you remember CC - "we bossed the second half (having been played off the pitch at Derby), MA - "if people criticise Micky Adams then Micky Adams will walk" (I'm paraphrasing here), ID - "the boys put in a shift today". I...

VULTURES IN THE AIR - Jordan Willis Target

"He's working under the easiest conditions a football manager ever has". Good to see someone taking a balanced view :)

VULTURES IN THE AIR - Jordan Willis Target

I try to brush them off when I can....... More seriously, I think everyone is aware of AT's limitations, but are also aware that he is working under (if you'll allow a degree of understatement) "difficult conditions" and so are prepared to take a more balanced view.

VULTURES IN THE AIR - Jordan Willis Target

I presume that there is at least a degree of irony in the posts that criticise AT, generally in long threads that are very critical of AT, but then finish with comments like - "However, no blame or criticism can be attached to AT......" :):)

    Thorn talks about his defence

This post comes as a shock. I'd always thought that you were a big fan of Thorn's.

Hoffman... where the f**k are you ?

All good points. In addition I'm really fed up with those posters who continually claim that Thorn invented penicillin, set out the theory of relativity and was the first man on the moon. Can't these people make postings that are even vaguely sensible?????????

    Thorn Starting to get impatient?

The implication here is that a good manager will be "poached". You've also stated (frequently) that Thorn is "the worst manager in our history". It is therefore logical that all his predecessors were better than him. So from that abundance of riches, how many of our managers in say the...

    Thorn Starting to get impatient?

Nothing like a close season to polarise opinion :D OK then - "worst manager in our history"...... I'm pretty shaky on managers from 1883 to 1961, but look forward to your reasoned debate on their pros and cons. As for more recent years, off the top of my head I'd look at: Peter Reid -...

    Thorn Starting to get impatient?

Personally, I've always thought that there were fixed term contracts and rolling contracts. Fixed term contracts ran for a fixed term and then stopped (although they could obviously be extended or renewed by mutual agreement), whilst rolling contracts "rolled on" until either party served the...

    Let me ask a question?

I completely agree with the general point that you're making, but I have different memories of the specifics of the cup run tickets. It's true that there weren't many of us at the Bolton game (bloody freezing!), but as I recall the away end was pretty full at Old Trafford. For the Stoke game I...

    Thorn Starting to get impatient?

Seems a bit odd to say that AT "seems to get off scot free of any responsibility at all" when half the posts on a thread like this seem to characterise him as "the worst manager of all time in the known universe" (OK, maybe mild exaggeration) :D

    Thorn Starting to get impatient?

I'd always assumed that "a rolling 12 month contract", simply referred to the notive period required. So at any point either party would have to give 12 months notice of termination.

Hoffman... where the f**k are you ?

Interesting comment Lord. My understanding was that when SISU/Ranson took the club over, RR put Prozone in as his investment. As I recall this was valued at one time at several million pounds - which given that Prozone was sold last year (?), he lost. On that basis he would have had to...
