    Has Dovin helped steady things more than we think ?

    Dovin has a presence about him and makes good decisions and saves. I think he’ll be a big player for us. He has stabilised things but also Binks and Dasilva coming out helps a lot.

    Yes, Simms has to start now. With Emc out I’d be tempted to go with Simms and Bassette up front with a diamond from back to front behind them of Sheaf, Eccles, Rudoni and Torp. Switch back to 3 once either wright or Emc are fit again.

    Criticism of Bassette and BTA is harsh. One starting out, one playing bits and pieces. That said surely Simms, with nearly 20 goals last season has to start now? Thought Rudoni was our best player as he has been all season - and in another new position.

    Need to cut BTA some slack. When he’s started through the middle he’s generally looked ok. Always looks upbeat and puts the effort in.     Bidwell is more than good enough to be first choice LB in the championship. Dasilva isn’t good enough to be a back up. But there’s no way of offloading him. So I think we go on with those two for now.

    By and large (if they were his calls) he got the multi million pound deals right. Wright, Simms, Saka, Emc, MVE, Rudoni, Bassette. Probably question over Thomas, Binks and Kitching. Not bad overall.
