    Some very solid 7’s. I’ve been critical but I thought Binks defended well second half. Grimes is obviously quality. Rudoni always good and Dovin mom just for the quality of his 2-3 saves.

    Decent half from us. Just need better decisions in their half. Grimes is obviously capable of running games. I’d be tempted to put Allen on for Torp.

    Key to us getting a result is finding a way to stop giving stupid goals away again. Two things integral to that are to keep being pragmatic - hit row Z if required. And try and find a formation without Binks or Dasilva in it. I think we have to play JDs in this one however.

    Grimes changes the Sheaf conversation. I’d offer him something in the summer which I don’t think he’ll take. Then it’s time to cash in.

    Tricky game. With Bidwell out were immediately exposed so I’d play one more game with 5 at the back to get jds further up the field. Cannot play him and Binks so I’d go with Dovin Ewijk. Lati Thomas Kitching. Jds Allen Grimes Rudoni Simms BTA

    If we’re working on the assumption that Ewijk and Sheaf go and Gyokeres also moves on my shopping list would be: Two RB’s 1 very good CH (biggest outlay) 1 LB capable of playing ahead of Bidwell 1 midfield Anything else based on plugging outgoing gaps

    Premier league standard

    We do have players who could operate at that level. Van Ewijk, Rudoni, Wright, Sheaf. Possibly Dovin and Emc. That’s decent for a championship club. The trick is making a team. We’re a long way off being promotion contenders at the moment because the squad is unbalanced.

    The game exposed our lop-sided squad. No cover at RB. No real cover at LB. One of the poorest CH’s I’ve seen as back up in that position. We’ve addressed the midfield. Must be a complete overhaul defensively in the summer.

    Realistically we’ve started to slowly to get to the play offs. I don’t think we have the consistency to make up that bit of ground and stay there. The Leeds game was a reality check in a way.

    Rudoni clear mom for me. Dovin close behind. Grimes showed what he will bring. Personally I’d have Simms and BTA in for extra training and just get them to control the ball. It’s a very basic skill at this level that neither have.

    They are a good side. That simple. The reaction here is way OTT. Their squad is loaded due to parachute payments and that advantage shows.

    It would be madness to change things now just to go back to a pre conceived idea. Lampard has already shown he’s willing to be pragmatic. Temporary solutions that work normally become permanent
