Great post and particularly agree with this part. It gets lost a bit in the wake of 87 as if we "never really kicked on", but the side a couple of years after the cup win was actually even better for me and we carried on playing quality passing football. It was a great year for that too with us...
Think I'd rate Willis No.1 for his athleticism and class, Davies is a unit and more suited to L2 perhaps but we saw just what Willis adds at his best last night.
Hyam was already pretty good from the start of the season, but has really progressed. I think we can put Yeovil down to the entire...
Glad it's you there and not Lincoln, lovely club Exeter and Tisdale is a good manager and a good man. Here's to a great game and a 4-3 Coventry win with you going up next year and Lincoln relegated!
We are so blessed with quality CB's, the irony being that the one who was the best at the start of the season is the one totally off the boil now. For most squads in this division that would be a hammer blow, but Hyam has looked assured aside from one game and has been immense in the play offs...
Burge-9: pulled off a worldie save at 2-1 and commanded his area better than I knew he was capable of when we were really under the cosh. Chose when to punch and did it well.
Grimmer-7: much more solid defensively, a couple of times he row z'd it which pleased me as it looks like he might have...
Brilliant tonight, utterly immense. Superb goals and a non-stop effort leading the line. Those goals were so good technically, particularly the first, shall be watching them over and over as often as I do Cyrille's winner against Spurs in the 4-3!
Hey, the good news is, that if we go up, we are no longer "at the bottom of a business cycle", so to use another Fisherism, "looking through the square window of positivity"-MAYBE THEY'LL SELL US!
Totally deserved, two genius goals of a very different kind, worked his guts out, took a battering, won loads in the air and held it up and passed it intelligently. I think we have a cult hero on our hands, he's backing up the character he has always shown with real substance week in week out now!
This and the Cheltenham game show what we are capable of and kinda what we should have been doing all season, but those moments are no less sweet for that and it won't matter as long as we turn it on again against Exeter!
I think that's my 5th song lyric ref this thread....not a garage tune...
He's been a total knob all match, so biased. No wonder it's trending on twitter about Notts C being "robbed"-what, at 4-1 and with a clear red card not given? Come off it...
