FFS...he comes on up front, looks the most likely goal threat we've had, and he shunts him out wide, a role for which he has no skills? So frustrating.

Actually what price Ponticelli being moved out wide now?

Sounds like JCH coming on, might be getting my wish. Shame about the midfield....

He is definitely someone who we are missing massively. Hopefully can replicate the partnership he had with Doyle with Ogogo when fit.

Wouldn't mind seeing a Ponticelli-JCH strike partnership. I think JCH can pick a pass and has good awareness whilst Ponticelli is raw, but a goalscorer, at least.

Abso-bloody-lutely. Either sign a replacement for McNulty who shares some of his raw attributes who you can develop as a goalscorer, or give Ponticelli a run in that role and keep the same shape. Sounds like option no.2 is the way to go at least...offside, but promising!

Clive: "and now lets hear the highlights of the game". Cue a few seconds of drowned out commentary behind incidental music, before that fades and we just get CWR incidental music for a minute or two...no, wait, I can just hear the Oxford goal now, very faintly, behind the music again. What a...

We must be getting him on loan as a sweetener for the Bayliss sale.... Just for you, NW!

Not thought of 523 since 80's 8-bit computer games, btw...was it Kick Off 2 that was quite good in?

What exactly is it, Nick? Only just tuned in to CWR to hear Clive talking about Hiwula and Bakayoko swapping which was on the left wing, but dunno if that is a 442, 451 or even 523!

Like the look of the formation.

    The system we have played

Nah he's switched, most of last season was McNulty and one of Biamou or JCH up front, certainly once Jones and Andreu were injured. And whilst Shipley was slightly "out of position" it worked well having him reasonably narrow from the left. I think Robins did show some flexibility last season...

Conor Chaplin - Signing Confirmed (Finally!)

If he wants to get away from managers who play one up front, he's better off going somewhere else tbh....

Anyone got the Diablo formation for L1 this season? Let MR know if so!

Amadou Bakayoko - Confirmed 2 Year Deal

You're right, he can run-he's quite nippy. But also he can't hide-he is 6 ft 3, so quite a tall fellow.

    The system we have played

Agreed that it's not really working. We do have an imbalance at the moment in terms of lots of forwards and central midfielders, either attacking or defensive. Atm we're playing two defensive central midfielders, two attacking midfielders and a striker in a midfield 5....as I put on the match...

Match Thread Coventry City at AFC Wimbledon Match Thread - Saturday 11th Aug

I think it illustrates just what a massive gap there is between youth football and men's football. There have always been big name youngsters-even England U19 stars-that fail to step up and make a living from the game even, like Lee Sawyer. Many others become jobbing lower league pro's (Jordan...

I think two up front is a must, especially given the number of forwards we have and our lack of goals and cutting edge atm. If there's one thing I disliked about Robins first spell here it was two defensive midfielders at home and one up front.

    Jack Grimmer

It does seem to be a case of rip it up and start again when we had a great platform and way of playing that worked. I suppose the big factors in doing so are no McNulty and Andreu being fit, but I'm not sure what the likes of Grimmer and Shipley did to be dropped.
